The equation of respiration : Food + oxygen →carbon dioxide + water + energy
The equation of burning : Fuel + oxygen→carbon dioxide + water +energy (heat and light)
Why is it that the teacher said both equations with energy could not be accepted as the correct answers?
Energy is not a substance.
It is not formed as a product.
It is released during the process of chemical reaction.
If it reaches the dse level, you will check the balance of the chemical substances between the two sides of the equation. By then, you will understand more about the definitions of the key components in a reaction.
Are you at your junior levels or the dse level? If u are at the dse level, go and clarified it from your teacher.
PS This is my conclusion from the chemistry i learnt more than 10 years ago. i haven't clarified this from anybody or any sources.
just a guess... er...can be wrong
