|my 99 was diagnosed with 鼻咽癌 in march, it was stage 3 at the time because some cancer cells have spread to the brain. she started chemo and radiation at the Baptist Hospital right away, for a total of 7 weeks. |
the treatment was very successful and her doctor said she's cancer-free now. the biggest side effect is ulcers in the mouth that makes eating very uncomfortable. after the treatment the doctor told is my 99 actually had stage 4 鼻咽癌 instead of stage 3 to begin with.
it was a difficult experience for our family, but mental and physical support is very important. i know everyone's condition is different so it's hard to tell whether your 叔仔 will respond well to the chemo. but never give up hope and support.
what you can do for him may include taking care of his baby so his wife can spend more time with him, help with some housework like cleaning or cooking, get some nutritional drink like 加營素 so he can gain some weight before starting chemo, pray for him (if you believe in God).
as for your husband, he can talk to his family doctor first, the doctor can ask some screening questions and refer him to a specialist if needed.
good luck and hope your 叔仔 will recover soon....
