Starting from 6 months , you can start to introduce solid food to your baby, usually starting with baby cereal or congee. Generally a 6 month old baby would have 1 meal of solid food and 4 milk feeds per day. You may begin with offering a few teaspoons of rice cereal, increase the amount gradually depending on baby’s chewing and swallowing ability. When your baby can finish the baby cereal prepared with the amount of one milk feeding, or nearly 1 baby bowl of cereal, meaning one milk feeding could be replaced by solid food. As chewing and swallowing ability is different for every baby, time needed for adapting to one solid food meal varies.
