if you find it hard to use pump at the beginning, better try to use your own hand to do it. you need to massage the breast well and warm it with hot pad or warm water, then press gently with your hands. pump can be good to use only after your milk can flow smoothly.
i tried electric one in the hospital after giving birth, and found it hard to use. then nurse said it's better to start with own hands. after 1 - 2 months, it's easy to pump out with pump. i think electric / manual one is quite similar, just electric one less tired as you don't need to repeat pressing.

Dear all breastfeeding mom,
My baby is born in Jan 2010 and I've been breastfeeding so far. However, I'll be going back to work next week. I have bought a electric pump, but it doesn't work that well ...
Little Rice was born on Oct 23, much earlier than expected date Dec 01. :P
