Anybody can give me an idea on how much one household needs to spend on hiring a Philipino maid? I just know the monthly salary is fixed, but don't know the real number. Also I heard that the miscellaneous can add up (e.g. food, monitor cam, airfare, agent fee). Seem that some expenses are once-off, some are recurrent.....
If anybody can give me some real numbers, that would be very much appreciated. I want to see if I can see the same amount of money to hire a local nanny just for day time!
1. Actually the monthly salary is $3480 + $400 levy
but the levy you have to pay in 4 instalments/contract.
2. agency fee: depends you hire overseas maid, or finished contract in HK
overseas maid $2000-$2500 including one way air-ticket
finished contract maid $2800-$3000
3. insurance $350-500 / year
4. air-ticket $1500 - $3000 (depends where she from, philippines or indonesia and which city)
5. breakfast, lunch and dinner - at least $500-700
(e.g. my maid drink coffee 2 cups a day, eat a lot, I spend at $700 a month and sometimes dinner outside)
6. the electricity bill, towngas bill will increase at 20-30%
7. in winter time, if you hire a new comer, you also buy her winter thick clothes.
