Hi, my bb is now 7.5 months old and I also feel my milk supply is less even though he is having 2 meals of rice cereal per day (plus 4-5 direct feedings).
Since I will go back to work in end of April, I want to introduce formula to him in case I don't have enough pumped milk for him. So I started giving him formula in the past 3 days, with 3-4 oz mixed with rice cereal first. As suggested by doctor, I put in 2 spoonful of powder for 3 oz or 3 spoonful of powder for 4 oz (so it's less concentrated and better for him to get used to digest the high protein formula) and his skin and poopoo seems ok so far.
I think I will try 1 more day of mixing formula with cereal and if it's ok, I will try giving him a full bottle of formula before bed. Hope that he can stay in bed for longer hours at night and cut some night feedings.
But my boy sleeps from 9pm to 9am. Should I give the formula to him when he wakes up at around midnight? Now when I breastfeed him, he will fall back asleep (but still drinking) shortly after I hold him and nurse him. Can I feed him formula with bottle when he's half asleep too? Anyone knows? Thanks!!
