Hi - I am a new mom living in New York. My due date is 7/4/2009. I am wondering if anyone knows how to find a chinese nanny for childcare in NYC? Are there dependable nanny agency? Or are there job listings in community centers in Chinatown? Both my husband and I come from HK so we speak fluent Cantonese, but Mandarin also ok too... Thanks in advance!
I'm not living in NYC but I know that there is a Chinese newspaper Sing Tao Daily which should be quite popular. You can check out their classified ads and see if you can find Chinese nanny from there. Are you looking for one taking care of your baby later or helping you after your delivery?
Thank you for your reply. I am looking for a full-time nanny to take care of the baby when I return to work post-delivery. I am wondering if it's difficult to find a full time Chinese nanny in New York City?
not difficult to find a live in nanny or full time nanny, but the quality is ... really depends on your luck.
I had nanny for the whole period until my son got into the day care.
you can post the ad at Sing tao post, or you can search from Singtao, in NYC, they got one page, posting about nanny and those agency as well.
for sit moon, just remember, they may expect USD$300 extra for that.
my nanny, took care of me, cook all food, housework included laundry, I took care of my son, but she bath my son.
she came 2 months before I labor because we need her to prepare the ginger vinegar. and keep all the ginger skin for my shower.
you need to teach her a lot on hygiene, standard is different from where they growth up.
Find someone without young children or grandchildren, so they have no excure to leave unexpected during weekday. If they have sick parents, young kids. they always have excure.

do u need "Miss sit moon".
my "Miss sit moon" is ok, cook for you (so do your husband- dinneronly), prepare ginger water for u to bath and take care the baby forthe whole night, so you can sleep.
"I pump the milk for her to feed during mid-night"
