For those who have children studying at London, I am wondering if the parents who are non UK resident is
allow to open any bank account at London at all? It will be easier if the parents can open an account at London to facilitate tranfer of funds in payment of fees etc. Does anyone know? Can someone please help?
I am given to understand one need to have a London address before one is allow to open a bank account. Is that correct? If that is the case, so for those who bought any property at London, would that mean they
can easily open bank account? Please enlightened me. Thank you.

I think the easiest way for you, if you have a HSBC account in hk, is to open an uk account from hk. I think you can do that, from what I recall, try to speak to your bank.

what i understand is, e.g. HSBC UK, only a uk resident can open an a/c locally

I know you can open an overseas account from HSBC Hongkong or Llodys in Hongkong. However, they both charge you annual/monthly fee. For the one from HSBC, you need to make an appointment to do it in the head office.

If they are living in the boarding house, they can ask the house parent to bring them to the bank, and use the boarding house address.
