I also have not ask her to do anything after her day off, but she always automatically do some general housework when she comes back, and of course I let her do it.
My maid is exactly the same as ixzp's.
But as soon as she arrived in HK, I have already told her that we will appreciate if she can help us after she come back on day off.
She said she is willing to help.
And I always offer her special meal/fruits/snack on her leave day. I think as long as both the maid and the employer are happy, it is not harmful to ask them to work a bit on the leave day.
for indonesian maid, i dont think there is a problem as accoridng to the rules set by her training school which my agency told me, she has been taught to do general housework before she leave home and after she return to home. For bun bun, I think you have to openly discuss with her and if possible talk to her when she report duty on your request for do some light duty works on day off. Otherwise, they will be easily influenced by their 'friends' outside and talks to you of doing 'nothing' on day off. Some of them will even argue with you that they have '24 hours' rest on day off!! That is one of the differences between bun bun and indonesian maid
I suggest to change "Bun Bun" to "Yan Yan".
That's no any problem happen at your family again.
I agreed to Mark Chan. ALL "bun bun" not willing to do anything on Sunday. Day off and no need to work full day. My girl friend's "Bun Bun" do not cooking lunch on Monday for her daughter. (she buy a lunch box from Maxim). Because, she is too many housework to do after holiday. (too lazy!!!)
I will not appreciate if the maid only buy lunchbox outside for the children. Because if they always eat lunchbox outside, that's not good for their health. Besides, the first priority of the maid is to take care of the children, and the housework is such an unfinishable work. So I will consider the children first.
