Sorry, godiva, I don't mean to say something bad about the maid you are recommending, but I want to share with other mummies my experience with maid working in HK for many years.
My current maid worked in HK for 8 years before I hired her, she got good reference letters from her last employers (eventually I found out she wrote the reference letter herself). By telephoning her last employer, they also commented she is good (but now I understand why, just because they want to release her and if she found a job, they don't need to pay for the air ticket).
Although she is experienced in doing housework, for the first three months, I found she is good since she could handle things independently, although I have suggest somethings to change in her way of working since the day she start, but until now, I found that she has never changed and like to do thing in her own way, she don't want to follow instruction because she feels that her way of working has passed several employment contracts for the eight years and she never want to learn new thing including taking care of my 3 years old daughter. So I believe maid with such long history of employment will only be good to start with but then you will suffer from a lot of problems as they are not willing to change or follow your way.
Since this maid, my husband and myself had decided not to hire any maid with HK experience, hope this will help those mum seeking for maids.
