You are so lucky, your maid resign by herself. If I have chance to hire a new maid, I think it is more safe to hire one who didn't work at HK before ( eventhough it is all by luck) but I think at least they won't be too picky choosing employer.
i did the same before with my ex helper who went back to philippines to attend funeral for a week.
I dont really care if it is legal or not, its black and white, u have to understand these people has bad quality and cannot be trusted by mouth warning ONLY. Everything has to be in black and white.
I listed very clearly that if found pregnant within 5 months after returned to HK, her contract will be terminated immediately with NO compensation.
even later if she wants to play games with me, i still have this letter as she signed and has witness, i believe HK has law lor, as an employer we have to protect ourselves as the law in HK doesnt protect us much as a helper's employer.
but at least u got somthing strong on her, she signs it, no one put a gun on her head to sign it and there is witnesses, best to sign it in front of agent i think. but that time i did mine as my mom is the witness.
even if they sue u, u have a convinencing evidence at least.
Yes, I did the same for my ex-maid, no matter it is legal or not, at least i have something black and white on hand.
In addition, it is a strong signal to my maid, if you get pregnancy, pls resign, you are absolute not welcome to stay with my family if you get pregnancy.
If it really happened, honesty, I will ask her to go, 最多我比一個月你, 當係甜頭, 起碼我有你封resignation letter.

首先軟功, 叫佢走, 表明不可以接受.
唔得就炒佢, 賠到足……., anyway, if you finally fail in labour dept, 最多你要賠到十足十, 及最後談判不成功, 政府都不能強制要你請番佢…..!
但希望佢識做, 唔好想著懶死就得, 絶對無相談餘地, 就算你去labour dept, I still insist to fire you, you have no chance to stay in HK to give birth.
So, you better choose 肥雞餐, 馬上走人. 我都知不合法, 但事急馬行田, 我會博一次.
