i agree that hand expression is NOT the best way for moms who need to express milk frequently. but hand expression is really good and 2nd to skin-to-skin in efficiency and stimulation. though not all doctors or lactation consultants have tried that, there are some of them experienced that. if it is done correctly, hand expression is very efficient. i have not fed my baby skin-to-skin for almost 6 months but i still find hand expression very good way to clear block. it is fast but risk of painful hand is true if it is done frequently.

Try use Nuk bottle. It's nipples are close to mother's nipples. I let BB use the bottle at Day 3 or 4 when nipples "bleed". He could still get use to both direct feeding and bottle feeding. Make sure you do not let him to use the bottle too much (only limited to 1-2 meals a day). No worry.
