我有個工人於96年4月份同佢續約,點知9月初就同我辭職,剛剛小朋友開始開學,把我Q起,就係去咗加拿大打工.重要講大話, 好在我發覺得早, 有一天話要請假去airport見sister, 但其實係去 body check, 星期六話要出糧,屋企等錢用,我話冇,星期日就辭職,重要冇1個月通知,要即走.你話如果我差啲出咗糧比佢,就真係蝕埋份糧. 我知係要現成有份工做梗,才可apply to canda.所以你要有心理準備.
My real case to share (my ex-helper resigned suddenly to go to Canada for working...give me 1 month notice) :-x :
1. She needed to give HK$30,000 for agency fee but as her Canada employer was urgent to get a helper, the employer paid the agency for her. (The maid's Canada friend referred to her as her friend worked there for two years and then 入藉 and change to other jobs and told my maid many jobs in Canada!!)
2. For salary, it is CAD1,700. But she needs to give CAD320 for rental to the employer. 5-day work; 8 hours a day and 14 days annual leave (better than many of our HK jobs, right!). Also, the employer must give OT pay if they work OT. The maid said, after working hours, just close the room door is ok. However, the maid is responsible for her air tickets.
3. The most attractive thing is the maid could become Canadian after working for 2 years and so they can do other jobs. Cananda government like those helpers with experience of taking care of babies, so when she needs to collect her Canada work visa, she ask me to acknowledge that she worked here for taking care of baby (I didn't write anything but acknowledge on her handwriting letter that I sent to Immirgation as proof of her resignation.....as this is a fact....but I didn't give her any reference letter as I was super angry that she suddenly resign that no one to take care my 2 yrs old baby. She only worked for me for 1.5 yr but I allowed her to take one month leave to go back to Philippines.......so foolish I am!) 一獲Q起!!!
Filippino maids are easy to go to Canada. The only problem is if the maid is willing to pay the high agency fee or not. If so, they can go.
