You can try to feed him very soft rice. If he can swallow that means o.k. I give my son soft rice when we eat even though he had no teeth before. Now, he has only half teeth, I also give me pasta, rice and small cubes of fruit like papaya, orange... He likes chewing as his gum is itching. :-P
