I think some of you might be interested in signing the petition. You should note that those who started the petition might not have the same motive as us who want to abolish the levy and benefit the employer. I guess they might be thinking that the levy is taken from the maid's salary.
Having said that ,we do have a common goal that is to get rid of the levy.
I'm from the initiator of the petition. And I agree with your point that we have a common goal. As the originator of the petition, we have not taken a stance on whether the maids' salary should be increased, although migrant worker organizations obviously want to have a pay rise. I think we can safely say that even without a pay rise, merely abolishing the levy will benefit the migrant workers because it will avoid any wave of contract termination (to avoid the tax) in the future.
Finally, please note that we have made the petition text very minimal so that everyone, (employers, maids, whatever) will be able to agree on it.
