But if I were u, I wouldn't ask her whatever she wants to eat. I will give $$$ to her and buy according to what I want her to buy:
1) some vegi, e.g. $5,
2) some meat or fish e.g. 2 fish, e.g. $10,
3) 2 eggs $2
4) and ask her to cook rice & divide it into 2 meals!
this will only cost u under $20!!! I am sure she won't finish all the food (some vegi, 2 fish, 2 eggs + rice)
If you give your maid a choice at the beginning, she will think she can buy / eat whatever she likes because you are paying for it!!!
When my maid (came only for 1 month) first came, I bought her some chicken wings, fish, pork chops and pork ribs, apples, bread, soya sauce, salt, sugar, oil and noodles. (rice and vegetables share with us)
She was happy with that as I have told her that I would buy her enough food each week. Yesterday she told me that she didn't want fish but she wanted salty eggs. She bought $5 for 3 in her holiday. I think that's quite reasonable.
She bought 1 tomato to cook with the salty egg. So I gave her $10 back for her tomato + 3 eggs (the change I asked her to keep it). She was very happy! I am happy too as I asked her what she would do with the fish that she didn't want to eat. She said, 'I will eat them, don't waste food, but next time I don't need fish but salty eggs'. I was happy that she said 'don't waste food and she said no need to give her back the money for tomato and salty eggs'.
I prefer stocking up the freezer with meat balls, chicken wings, fish fingers. Then she can add veggie for her meal. If u give her $, she will pocket all of it even if she spends less.
BTW, she is not supposed to buy take out with that money. She is supposed to buy food and cook.
