My husband and I have driving license in HK, but they are not recognised in Australia. What type of license should we apply for? In Hong Kong, we are holding the license for 5.5 tons lorry also.
Is it difficult to pass the test in Australia? My husband is an occassional driver but I think he can manage as he always drives long trip during travel. I have not driven a car since I got my license 8 years ago. I plan to practice driving in HK first, then take some driving lessons in Australia.... any advice?

Mrs Kangaroo, why do you need to proof age? They don't believe you are over 18? LOL

agree! I don't have drive license, I need to bring my passport with me if I want to go to RSL club (prove address) or go to club (prove age)...

after passed written test in the centre, you have to pay for Learner licence and Logbook as well.
then they will take pic of you and send the licence to your postal about a week.
my instructor offered me a lower tuition fee (per hour) when i took 2-hr lesson, compared with 1-hr.
in NSW, if you are over 25, you don't need logbook, meaning you can sit for the road test once your are confident. If you are not in NSW, better check your state road/transport website.
The officer insist to separate my chinese first name (e.g. Ah Ming) into first name (Ah) and second name (Ming), thus in my license, it only show my first (Ah).
Is it normal in Aust? Can i request to show both (Ah Ming) in my license?
yes...if your full chinese name is Chan Ah Ming, then, your name here is Ah Chan. It is the practice in English name.
do you have an English Name? if yes, go to change your name. If your English is Jo, then, you need to change your name as Jo Ah Ming Chan (not Chan Ah Ming Jo), then all your documents will show Peter Chan.
but it's too late now, otherwise, you will need to pay $$ to update your license.
