I read the manual and come across this setting in Custom Function Setting chapter.
I don't understand what is meant by AF assist beam firing.
Any DSLR experts can advice?

If I disable it (I am using Canon), what will be the effect when I take photos in the dark? Do I need to use bigger aperture, longer shutter speed or higher ISO speed?
