The price offer sounds fair.
I prefer 轉機, if 老人家 & kids are not often travel in plane, it will be good for them to take a break after around 11 hrs flight from Hong Kong to Van Couver, and then have 2 or 3 hours waiting in airport, walking & running, eating & shopping, then take another 5 hrs flight to Toronto.
直航 is good if you can force the kids to sleep. It's extremely boring, they will cried & yell and make you feel uneasy facing the other passengers.
4.) 3月尾, 當地有沒有士多啤梨或車里子摘呢？
It's not season, kids may have chance to play snow.
