Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your email and comments. The Observatory has begun the
studies on the modification of the tropical cyclone signal system.
Extensive consultation on the subject will be carried out. Your comments
will be taken into consideration in the review of the system.
To enhance the information service on regional distribution of wind strength
in Hong Kong, the Observatory launched a new webpage (
http://www.weather.gov.hk/wxinfo/ts/wind_gale_e.htm ) on 10 August.
Presented in an easily comprehensible manner, the new webpage shows the
strong and gale force winds in various parts of Hong Kong. The webpage also
describes how winds of different forces show themselves on land and in the
sea.
