Let me give some comment as my elder son was in pre-nursery at On Kei and then changed to Deborah.
Deborah was frequently changing teachers and as far as I learn, the basic salary of the kinder teacher was lower while benchmark to others. However, their teaching style is still good and K1 already got homework but to certain extend, kids will be easier to get into Primary as they already used to do quite a lot of homework. My son got 2 tasks to do everyday after school but it was not difficult. Interactive teaching style and the teacher is still care of the child. The Headmistress is good and powerful, you may say they are commercial but I think this is customer service.
On Kei is also good and my son follows Miss Leung (Big Leung) in N1, the reason for change is my son was not very good to attend whole-day class. But the morale teaching was very good compared to Deborah. The teacher as well as the Amah or the food supply is good overall. They changed the Headmistress last Year (2006) and seems not much change except now more extra curriculm was established. One more on academic is their English level is comparatively lower and students graduated there and a bit difficult to get into Primary life since they have less homework to do during the kindergarten life.
I just think of to let my younger daughter to get On Kei for N1 and change in K1.
My husband just visited Deborah this afternoon and he thinks it is nice also.
I think we will go for Deborah for now as my husband is English. He can at least read some reply slip or other documents from school in English.
Although we enroll our daughter to mainstream class to learn Chinese. Deborah seems to have more opportunity for daddy can get involve compare with On Kay. I hope we are not wrong.
On Kei is not really the 'popular' school in the sense that many parents queue up for the application, but it is quite a good school in Whampoa that is of Christian background.
Hope the information is of use to you.
Dear deebrown
I think there is another school called Willian which is also an international school and is quite popular in Whampoa too!
