1) Do you think it has high chance that we can get a place in local school if the kid can pass the examination ?
2) If yes, will those schools are at lower ranking ? If the examination result is good, will there be any chance to get to better school ?
3) Will the school allocated near the home address
4) Will the chance to get a place lower if we attend S-AEIS (conduct in Feb) rather than AEIS (conduct in Oct) ?
5) Will the kid normally need to attend lower level in SG than HK ?
MOE will definitely assign a local school for your child if she pass the exam. But we cant choose school, their decision is final. For our case, they assign the school which need to take 4 MTR station. You can also try other local school but some of them may ask you to attend the PACT test which specially for testing the foreign students level. Since another local convent school accept my daughter admission, so we drop the one assign by MOE.
As I know, S-AEIS are for the student who miss the AEIS test but want to study in the term. Jan is the new term start here, so if you sit for the AEIS test in Oct, you can start the term with the local students together.
My daughter is so lucky can keep the level but I heard some might drop, better to do more exercises before test.
As the timing cannot fit, I could manage my daughter to take next Feb's S-AEIS. I am now preparing my daughter to attend S1 admission test but we found that their P6 Math is quite difficult (as compared with HK). Do you think the Math and Eng are more difficult than HK in the same level ?
I searched from Internet that the recent passing rate for AEIS is around 20%. Is it a bit low ?
Since my daughter test for primary level, so I am not sure of the secondary level. But English really difficult than HK, Maths test in English and it might need to draw model for word problem which is new for HK student. Again, these are for primary level.
Singapore English is more difficult than Hong Kong especially for Secondary Level. As what I heard from other people, they will fly to Singapore to take AEIS course which is done by local English centre for preparation during summer holidays. Then, student will fly back to Singapore for attending the exam.
Pls PM me if you have any questions.
My daughter just took the S-AEIS exam last week. She said she's ok with more confidence in English. In the past 3 months, she did a lot of P6 English and Maths exercise from different schools' past exam papers and exercise books published from SG.
The result will be announced in April and hope she could get a pass.
