I order to buy sea horse mattress for baby today. It is just $247 . I remember some BK moms said it cost $3xx. So I am very happy to tell u all abt this.
Maybe my baby cot is not big. The size I order is 22"x28"x4". One side is soft and the other hard. It's really an attractive price.
Just want to share about buying mattress.
I think the critical factor at early age is whether the mattress is waterproof. I bought my daughter a mattress which cover by plastic, so anytime she wet the bed, I just wipe it and turn it other side.
Besides, the mattress is so small and I doubt how long can it last since I like to sleep with baby when she is a baby.
I read some time ago (can't remember where) some articles about SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Statistics seem to suggest correlation between SIDS and babies sleeping with their parents; and as well as that with used mattress. So I preferred not to sleep with my baby even if I decided to breastfeed him. And I buy a new mattress when I have a used baby cot. :wink:
On the other hand, do you think waterproof mattress will be very hot and uncomfortable in summer days?

SIDS can also cause by baby sleep by itself? It is also good to buy brand new stuff and it is all depends on your financial situation. Yes, mattress is very personal and I also prefer to have brand new.
From your signature, you are not the first time mom. Either your child is very good behaviour or you are lucky that baby doesnt cry whenever you leave them alone.
Being hot, the plastic will be cover by bed sheet, right? Imagine what happen if the baby wet the bed and you cannot dry it immediately and baby keep crying?
