Does anyone have experience with private schools for girls? Any recommendations?
Are their tuition fee usually very high (eg. 20K+per annum)? Some schools do not specify the tuition fee in their websites, I saw the tuition of Pymble Ladies College is 20K+ per annum, does anyone know the tuition fee of abbotsleigh school? Are these good private schools very difficult to get into? I've heard they have very long waitlists, at least 2 yrs, some even have entrance assessments, are these assessments very difficult?? And usually they request 2 referees per applications, what if I don't have any referees related to their schools, does it mean the chance to get a place in their schools is very slim?

Pls advise.....

Abbotsleigh is better than Pymble Ladies, and much harder to get in. Usually you enrol before your child is born, and your child also needs to do a test before kindergarten. The basic fee is 20K+, and this does NOT include uniforms, excursions, etc. High school is even more expensive.

So it is too late to apply now, right? My girl is in primary now, I was thinking of applying high school for her, so it will be hopeless then?

Yes, it is probably too late, but you can always try first.
You can also try other private schools.

private schools 佔大部份 80% 都是好學校, 各有優點, 當然是參觀他們的 school tour 可了解更多.

而有部份的家長(包括本地西人), 會在中學的時候才選擇私校, 他們認為小學階段學校生活只是玩, 沒有集中學術性方面, 可省回點學費投放在中學時用. 孩子也可嘗試考精英中學, 畢竟完成私校中學 7-12班的學費也要20萬. 還要預計每年上漲 5-9% 的加幅.

Pymble Ladies College 現在有很多華人就讀, 中國海外留學生也多(寄宿), 學校要賺更多的外匯, 預留部份的學位給海外生, 所以她們通常一報名就有位.

Abbotsleigh

就認識一個朋友有3個女兒就讀 2,4,6年級小學部, 一年學費加雜費就要接近10萬了.上年他大女兒考取了 NSGH 精英中學也不上, 原因是讀了私校便不能回頭讀公校.

暫時只想到這幾間, 以下都是比較受注意的女校, 名氣越大學費越貴.

Thank you so much for your advice and information, I would take a look at websites of those schools. Your friend whose 3 daughters go abbotsleigh must be rich, and the girls must be very smart to be able to get a place there, plus they had filed their application since born, right? I also think it'd be a better idea to enroll my kid to private school just for high school years in order to save money....
