我先生同小朋友已有加拿大護照，之前在香港工作，已declare non-resident, 我們打算下個月回流加拿大，而我則用visitor身份入境，唔知海關會否覺得有問題？

請問有無媽咪用visitor身份入境加拿大，然後先申請家庭團聚？可行嗎？大約幾耐先批？

因我想去到加拿大先買保險，唔知要買幾耐呢？老公同小朋友只買3個月「空窗期」便夠，是嗎？

我現在pack緊箱，我自己的日用品同衫都一齊pack埋，打算跟老公「第一水免稅」的日用品一齊運過去，海關對這類case會check得嚴嗎？

我2010年時係用VISITOR身份入境先申請團聚，冇問題架。（我先生係CITIZEN）
因為VISITOR只要你PASSPORT係OK佢唔會理你入來做乜，不過當然你唔會話來TRAVEL啦？你咪直接講入來然後申請PR囉，好多都係咁，因為佢本身有呢個POLICY。只要你唔好半年後唔出境咪得LAW（PASSPORT逗留期6M），到時你APPLY梗PR，咪APPLY EXTEND。

我之前見啲JM講話佢可以吸半年至一年逗留期比你。但我見入境嗰時問我留幾耐同埋佢無吸個日期比我可以留幾耐。咁如果我申請緊PR要起碼等一年先批到，咁我係咪半年內點都要出一出境? 要出幾耐先可以番番加拿大?! 麻煩晒!

i am citizen but i will use HK passport to enter. wonder if they will ask why. haha

'cause i dont have enought time to do my CAN passport.

I am a citizen and also planning to enter Toronto with HKSAR passport because don't want to spend extra money to get an extra passport (the Canadian passport also require a guarantor to sign -- so troublesome!!) Can we just show them our citizenship card?? do they really care what travel documents/passports we are using??

I have the same question for my C6 .......... wonder what to do if the customs officer does NOT stamp a longer stay for him while he needs time for the application approval of PR status in Canada. Any forms to fill in or application procedures require to extend after the 6-month stay period??

mabel 1218, canadian need to have a valid passport for travel. so if you are using the HKSAR passport to enter to canada, they won't know if you are canadian or not and most likely will stamp a 90 or 180 stays in canada. and if you stay longer than that period of time, immigration will black list your name and you might be in trouble.

the reason behind is that, even you lived in overseas (if more than 5 yrs), you should be able to get a guarantor to sign your passport application to renew your canadian passport. or if lived less than 5 yr. you should be able to come back to canada to have your passport renewed.

so no excuse, and i personally not recommended u to use the HKSAR passport to come to canada jsut for the sake of saving the CAxxx to renew your canadian passport

Sorry for my late reply!~

In my experience, I applied the extend visa before my 6m stay expired. You can apply via this

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp

You just need to fill in and mail it, the extended permit will mail to you....even at that moment your stay has expired already, but as you have applied before expired, so it is ok. Take a look at the latest date you should apply before expired.

I applied it during the time waiting for PR approval, but they are a bit slow to send me that because it was nearly my PR approved. I got it in Sep and my PR was approved in Nov. The work permit is 1-yr.

Even they dont have exact date stamped on your passport for leaving canada, but the fixed period is 6 months for HK passport. So you still need to follow this. ^^

Let me clarify further ............... I will surely let the customs guys know that I am a Canadian citizen with proof of my citizenship card/certificate but only use a HKSAR passport as a travel document to fly on the airplane!! They will NOT deny my entry into Canada or limit my period of stay (6 months) after seeing my citizenship proof, right??

that one i am not sure... as unlike hK, canada did require a valid passport for entry/leaving canada.. while HK, passport is just a travel document, you can entry/leaving HK by using the HK ID card...

you better check before u leave HK to come here. i don't want you to get into trouble.

BTW - my ex colleague is a Dutch, she hold 2 passport - a canadian passport and euro passport.

whenever she went back home to visit her parent in Holland. she use the canadian passport to leave canada, and enter to holland with the euro passport. I did ask her why she had to do that. she said in such case, you can stay in Holland more then the statutory days (i.e. 30 days and could travel to other euro countries without hassel)...

As you mentioned that 'The work permit is 1-yr.' . It means work permit was priovded after you got PR approval (after Nov)? But no need working permit after PR approval , right ?!

I got my work permit before pr approval in july or aug i forgot and pr approved in late nov so that work permit isn\'t that useful for me. However I think different case has different processing time, I remembered I applied it in mar and I got it few months later. So I suggest u can apply the work permit at the same time when u applied pr . I applied too late.

Thanks your reply , it's very useful . So, when I go into Canada , then I'm as visitor and apply PR and working permit together in Canada , right ? For apply PR, it may take around one year ? And, get working permit may more faster than PR, so I can use working permit to find a job in Canada (if I can find) .
