Dear Always Busy Parents,

Any Plan for this Coming Saturday (31 May) - Especially those in Brisbane? (DATE NOW CHANGED TO SUN 15 JUNE DUE TO CURRENT BAD WEATHER)

If you have the Time and the Energy (Parents are always Exhausted!), please seriously consider coming to the Mayfair held by the Caloundra City School (www.ccs.qld.edu.au). We will be enjoying thereat.

Time : 1200 NOON to 1600 hrs
(TIME NOW CHANGED TO 1100-1500 HRS)

Venue : Caloundra City School
(in 20 Acres of Land)
Pelican Waters
Caloundra
Sunshine Coast

On Offer :
Super Slide, Hot Rods, Pony Rides, Jumping Castle, Merry Go Round, Octopus Ride, Side Show Alley, Show Bags and More. And a Good Range of Food and Variety Stalls.

Admission is FREE but one has to pay for the above rides (Unlimited Ride Pass at $25)

When visiting the Mayfair last year, we still had NOT moved to Pelican Waters (www.pelicanwaters.com). Our boys had a Great Time then on the school grounds.

After subsequently attending the school's Open Day, we then decided to enrol our Children and moved to the area.

We now live happily in a new house, which is only :

- 4-minute drive to the school;

- 2-minute drive to a 3-year-old 4 1/2 Star Hotel (www.crowneplaza.com.au, select "Sunshine Coast" - a glass of orange juice is only $3!!);

- 2-minute drive to a Golf Course, right next to the above hotel (www.clubpelican.com.au - a 12-month Membership for Preferred Player Club is only $99!! And a Coffee & Cake only $6, available 7 Days!)

- 3-minute drive to local small shopping centre, with Coles Supermarket, Warehouse Store, GP, Newsagent, A Mobile Library (Sat) etc.

- 10-minute drive to several beautiful patrolled beaches, a larger shopping mall and the Treelined High Street Stores.

If you have the Time, come and have some fun with your Children, you may see me and my wife at my boy's class pizza stall!

And if you still have the Time and Energy after the Mayfair, you are most welcome to come to our home for another cup of tea, and let us show you a Different Lifestyle - in addition of having local Chinese Takeaway!

A Lifestyle that you may have never thought of - and yet NOT costing a Fortune!

Have Another Great Weekend with your Much Loved Children - Whom we have come to this wolrd for.

(If you require more information, please feel free to ask me either in this Open Forum or through PM)

Cheers

DATE POSTPONED TO SUN 15 JUNE

Hi ALAU

Your Prayer has been anwsered - the President of our school's Parents and Friends Association sent an E Mail to all parents this morning, stating that due to the Bad Weather Forecasted (Heavy Rain - and last night was Thundery Rain!), the MayFair scheduled for tomorrow has now been postponed to

(SUN) 15 JUNE

(It's now like JuneFair than MayFair, Ha!)

Then again, it'll take you at least 2 hours to drive from Gold Coast to Sunshine Coast, as you're in the South of Brisbane and we're in the North.

Also, it could be too Rush for you lot to come after arriving Australia only 5 days prior to the Fair - Exhausted parents need lots of rest, especially due to a jet-lag and have lots to unpack!

I try to describe Pelican Waters in one phrase,

"Relaxing, Refreshing & Reassuring"

And try to use one phrase to describe Our Feeling,

"Our Dream Lifestyle Almost Comes True"

But remember,

What Suits Us may NOT Necessary Suit Others.

Sometimes, it's really Hard to describe things, FeelingsViews in particular, in Writing. So, if you have the time, you can call us upon your arrival and have your questions ready - my wife and I will try our best to provide some answers.

If you wish, we could pm you our contact numbers.

Have a Great Flight - leading to a Great Experience in Life.

Cheers

If It is Meant to Happen

No worries, ALAU

Please do talk to your Hubby - Couple work as a Team, working hand in hand to "Make Dreams Come True".

You lot must have plenty to do to Settle in your New Home in the first week. And please therefore do NOT rush Everything, otherwise you're to Defect the Whole Purpose in coming to Australia,

Enjoying a More Relaxing Lifestyle!

But if you lot do come over for the Fair, I can assure you lot will be Amused by what are On Offer in Pelican Waters and yet NOT as Expansive as one would think.

If our two families are Meant to meet, we will .

Incidentally, my wife and I are planning a trip for the coming school holidays. Would you like to guess where my wife would like to visit?

Gold Coast!!!
Yes, where you lot to settle!

So, I'm now very busy in trying to find a 2-bed apartment, with indoor heated pool, OWN washing machine and dryer, and ideally with 2 Bathrooms etc. in Surfers Paradise, where we're to stay for 5 nights probably from 21-22 June!

Cheers

Still Undecided

Hi ALAU

I had a quick check on "ARTQUE". It does NOT seem to have an Indoor Pool. We've previously looked at Q1, which has Everything (including an Observation Post at 77/F!) but the Price is really Dear!

We still have NOT decided where to stay in Surfers Paradise, because we have to make sure the Weather is Fine in Gold Coast and our boys NOT sick BEFORE booking the last minute deal through www.wotif.com.

Pelican Waters (www.pelicanwaters.com) is a newly developed suburb (i.e. area) in the City of Caloundra (www.caloundra.qld.gov.au). The 2,000 acres (= 2,000 Full Size Football Field like the one at the HK Football Satdium) was bought by the Henzell Family back in 1945 for Sterling Pounds 2,000!! (www.henzells.com.au)

When fully developed, it'll be home to 16,000 people and 50% of the area is "Green" (i.e. bush/grass) area.

You never know, if time and circumstances permit, our two families may meet in the Gold Coast if not before then.

Cheers

A New Lifestyle

Dear Holiday Planning Parents

Just to give you an example of the New Lifestyle we've been experiencing in Pelican Waters - we are so close to the Nature.

Some Pukekos (i.e. Purple Swamp Hen) often come up from the lake at our back garden. Our boys feed them and I've even named of them, as this particular one comes really close - standing right outside our sliding door, "asking" for food!

There are also some ducks - we often see this Duck Family, 5-6 of them, crossing the road when we drive!

My elder boy was trying to catch a big fish the other day but only to fall into the lake, which is at knee height. And he's thinking about having a floating boat when he's older, so that he can roll the boat in the lake.

And just earlier today, while on our way home after collecting our boys from school and only 1 street from our home, we saw a group of 4-5 Kangaroos eating in an Open Space. We stopped our car, observing them from a distacne and waiving to them!

But NOT everyone like this, to us, More Relaxing Lifestyle.
Everyone, indeed, makes their Own Choice.

Cheers

Dear Fate,

What a wonder-land your home is. It's always been the dream home for many HK people, yet we often locate ourselves back to suburb, if not city, when we've to choose our home again.

You address the posting to holiday planning parents, does it mean Pelican Waters can be an ideal place for vacation?

Life can be that simple? It may takes years for me to find out in my new page of life!

Life is Indeed Simple.........

Hi Searching Hard Harris_ma

Different People have Different Needs at Different Times and therefore they have Different Expectations.

Australia may NOT be the Dream Country, otherwise there should NOT be so many Emmigrating Hotspots like Canada, USA, UK etc..

Queesnland State may NOT be the Dream State, otherwise there should NOT be so many Relocating/Emmigrating Hotspots like NSW (with Sydney), Victoria (with Melbourne) etc.

So, my home or Lifestyle may NOT be the Dream One for many HKnese. Some of my friends have stated,

"It is quite Boring living in Australia"

(Though they have NEVER lived here before!)

Pelican Waters can be a Starting Point for Holiday - most tourist locations are within 30-minute drive. But then again, it's the MIND that matters Most.

If one does NOT have a Relaxing Mind, even though they're ON Holiday they still do NOT enjoy it!

Same as Life itself.

Life is Simple, though we have for some reasons making it Complicated for Ourselves due to Losing Focus.

As long as one Remains Kind and Peaceful, all the Answers that been placed Inside us will once again float up in our Brain - Life becomes Simple again.

Cheers

Oh yes, your description is right: I'm really searching hard !

As you said, dream home/ dream life style depends on when, where and who, that's why so many different choices are available.

And I hope I can enjoy my vacation every day. I told myself this 2 yrs is my long vacation in my life time, so enjoy it! Even though I've to be a full -time housewife and a mother, I asked myself to relax. Nothing is impossible when you can let go.. may also mean spoiling my little boy ... may also mean 3-5 days of pre-school

No offence, how much time does it take to access to webpage like BK? I found the broadband speed is surprising slow~~ 128kbps?? It's quite hard to imagine.. And data storage cost?? Again, hard to imagine~~

Take One Step

Hi Harris_Ma

With the Benefit of Hindsights, I now think I had pushed myself too hard when I was in Hong Kong or when I was Younger in general.

I used to think I had to,

Get it Right the FIRST Time AND get it Right Everytime.

And this Created Unbearable Pressure.
(This could be one of the Main Reasons that I'd left HK - now I may NOT be able to go back as I may not be Competitive enough after all these 11 lazy years in overseas!)

But then again, I had learnt the Hard Way that we are NOT the Centre of this world, we have to accept that,

Life is full of Nasty Surprises.

So, I now have a New Mentality - as long as I can Learn something from an Experience/Event, I do NOT mind if I may NOT get it Right the First time, as the New Learning will take me to an Ultimate and Bigger Success one day.

So, for you, the coming New Experience as a Full Time Housewife and Mother could be a Blessing - my wife has been as such since 1999 after giving birth to our first child - as long as you do NOT push yourself too hard in getting things Right the First Time and Every Time.

Broadband speed in Australia is amusing - so slow!
Never mind, there are other things More Relevant, More Valuable etc. that makes Australia a Better Place for us at this moment of time in our Life.

Have a Great Day and Trust your Hubby will have sorted out everthing by the time you arrive Australia in August.

Cheers
Fate

Hi couple full of wisdom,

Learning with hindsight and experience give people wisdom, just like you! Pushing oneself too hard will cause a big damage to the health, a lot of terrible diseases are caused by pressure, right? So relax and let go~~

Being competitive? Well.. it's an attitude and a choice. I still remembered I choose to be a school teacher instead of joining a business firm when I graduated. It is because I don't want myself to be too aggressive and of course I like teaching and growing with students, well, now, I have to make a pause 1st. I've to grow with my little Harris in a closer way, and I really appreciate and thankful to have this privilege which I'd never have chosen if I'm in HK.

After settling down in Sydney for a while, we'll enjoy our weekend vacation in Oz (see, a long vacation!) I think Pelican Waters is a great choice. See whether we've the luck to see each other

Thanks for all the comforting sharings and wisdom.

Your Family is Most Welcome

Hi Harris_ma

You're Absolutely Right, there are many BK parents have Practical Knowledge and Inspiring Wisdom, like ngmammy in Sydney, Devlin Mum in Brisbane, Chelsea in HK, Missi in Canada, kitchu in UK etc..

No one can pinpoint the Exact Cause of Cancer, though many suspect it is closely related to Negative Emotions, such as Anger, Saddness....... and Stress like you've mentioned.

Being Happy also leading to Being Healthy.

A Good Teacher is always in demand - Everywhere.
Would it be easier to Teach your own child in a sense?

Your Family is Most Welcome to drop by our home for a cup of nice tea and a long chat if you lot happen to be in Pelican Waters for holiday.

It's also our intention to visit other major Australian Cities during school breaks, starting from Gold Coast this term, then Sydney/Melbourne, Perth, Carins etc. (Though the long summer break will be reserved for a long HK holiday to polish our boys' Oral Cantonese!)

Enjoy your New Home and your New Life Style.

Cheers

The End of My Journey in Baby Kingdom

Dear Confusing Australian Parents

Trust that you all are as Confused as me,

"Why this HK parent running around in EVERY Fate's thread, doing the same thing like this?"

Please do read my recently open thread in "International School" with the tilte,

"Searching the Best School in the world."

See what you would make of this. Who is Respectable and Who is NOT. It appears someone is "TRAPPED IN HATTRESS"

Could I take this Opportunity to thank you all for being so Quietly, Patiently and Positively Involved for the last year or so, making me feel like Australia is also my home.

But it's just that this's about time to say Goodbye and tell you all WHY.

I'm to write my LAST post with the following title and published here in Australian Parents Club, as my Last Salute to yu all Well Behaved Parents & Friends,

"The End of My Journey in Baby Kingdom"

Cheers
