Hi all,
I'm a new BF mom and my newborn is 5 weeks' old. I'm glad that I was able to do 100% BF w/o giving formula to my baby as supplement so far. Even though the feeding schedule is not yet regular, I can still expect to feed my baby every 2-3 hours during daytime, and every 3-4 hours overnight. So my schedule is like:
00:00
03:30
07:30
10:00
12:30
15:30
18:30
21:30
I do direct feeding so I don't express milk on daily basis. I saw in other topics that some moms will express/pump milk on one breast while BF'ing with the other breast. I would like to try it so to stock up some spare milk as well as to increase the milk quantity. However, I have some questions and would like to see if anyone can clarify for me. :loveliness:
1. Say if I BF baby with my left breast & express milk from my right breast at 07:30, so I expect to feed bb again later at around 10:00 or so. If both breasts are cleared after feeding + pumping at 07:30 session, is there enough time to produce new milk for feeding & further pumping at 10:00?
2. If yes, I guess I should feed with my right breast & express milk from my left breast at 10:00, right?
3. If not, then when can I do feeding + pumping at the same time?
4. Or, how should the feeding + pumping schedule be like?
Looking forward to receive advices from the experienced moms. Thanks!! :)
