My daughter has been accepted for this school for PN class 2012.

Appreciate if you can share your comments on this school.

Q1. Are your kids happy at the school?
Q2. What do you think of the quality in terms of teachers, learning and primary school options?

Q4. Between Victoria and this school, what do you think are the differences? Which one will you choose?

So far, I like Kornhill Int'l very much! Pls see my reply below:

Q1. Are your kids happy at the school?
- Yes, he is happy at the school. His teachers all love him. They gave enough time to the students to settle in to the school environment and routine.

Q2. What do you think of the quality in terms of teachers, learning and primary school options?
- If you check the 幼稚園概覽, this school has relatively high ratio of bachelor degree holders. But for teaching, don't compare it with local KG. They may be more academic-oriented. But I think my son has learnt many things not thru the books, but thru the activities designed by the teachers.
- As it has no linkage with any primary school, so you either send your kid to int'l primary schools, or you go for 小一自行收生/派位.

Q3. Do you plan to switch to other K1 school or stay at this school?
- I did go for some K1 interviews, but at the end, I decided to stay here, as I like the school and it's close to my home, too. As I plan to place my boy in the same primary school as his dad, so primary school is not a concern for me. But if you have to bother with the primary school, then you may need to care about this!

Q4. Between Victoria and this school, what do you think are the differences? Which one will you choose?
- my niece studies at the Kornhill Victoria. I think that is also a good school. But given that the school fees are about the same, I think Kornhill Int'l is more "international". When the kids get to K1, the school time is from 9am - 2pm and the kids can learn to have lunch at school and brush teeth etc. I found that amazing.
For Victoria, I heard there is a local + a foreign class teachers in each class. However, the foreign one does not really care about the class rundown, except for the english language part. But for Kornhill Int'l, both foreign teachers are really involved in all the activities.

But I know Victoria is more well-known (given that it has more classes and schools).

BTW, if you are comparing Kornhill Int'l and the Victoria @ Kornhill area, then please note that Victoria does not have outdoor playground... If you know Montessori, you may like a place with outdoor playground so the kids can enjoy the exposure to sunlight!

as my daughter us small bb, we need to pay school fee for sep and oct when not yet go to sch does this happen to you guys?

Mine is an August boy so no such problem... Many of the PM kids were born in July and August, some in September.

Hi Nicholas mom,
I'm glad that your son will stay in Kornhill next year!
My son will also stay. Hope that they can be classmates again!
I'd like to ask if the 9am-2pm time-table is a must for K1 students? I am not sure if it is an option for those who want to stay longer at school.

May i know :

whether this school conduct their interview in english?
i heard japanese is taught in some classes, is it true?
Do they have school bus service?
Can N1 students promote directly to K1 without additional interview?

Hi Rurikosum,
Yes, interviews are conducted in English.

The school has 2 sections: International or Japanese. If you go for International, no Japanese will be taught by default. I think Japanese section is for Japanese people.

They do have school bus service for nearby locations.

N1 students have priority to apply for K1, i.e. you can pay the registration fee and seats will be allocated for you.

Hi there,
There is only one Textbook for learning English letters A-Z and the vocabulary.

Other than English letters, these are taught at school:
1. self-development / self-help
2. numbers
3. shapes
4. colors
5. PE movements
6. songs
7. gross motor & fine motor skills
8. art
etc

and they use theme-approach, so every few weeks, kids learn about things around the theme, e.g myself, my family, transportation, weather etc.

and each week the kid will bring home a reader for reading with the parents.

no,I haven't applied this school for my son yet as he is 8 mths old only.So if I intend to let my son to study in this school,I should start to train his English for interview,is that right?do u speak with your kid on English all the times?

if you want to place him into this school, you have to speak to him in english not just for the sake of interview, but for the 4 years of school life.
