Vote for a number plate..

Anyone has ever 投車牌? How do we know if we can sign up for the number we wish to buy? For example, I want to buy AB 1234, How do we know if it is already owned/sold or still open for public to vote?

Puibb,

You may call 1823 and tell the govt staff the number that you want. The answering centre will arrange the staff of the Transport Department to check whether the number is still available and call you back. If it is available, the Transport Department will send / fax you the form. You need to fill in the form, pay HKD1,000.- as deposit to arrange for the auction. If you are successful in the auction, the sum is deductible. If somebody gets your number, the sum is refundable.
