My daughter spoke the first "clear" word "哥哥" at 7-8 month.

She made the first gesture "bye bye" at 5 1/2 month.

I have 2 kids already. My experience is the earlier you teach them, the earlier they know. The earlier they can talk, the earlier your communication starts. It is very fantastic.
