My son is 4 1/2 years old and he has been sleeping with me for all these years. As he is getting older and bigger, he should have his own bed and sleep by himself. So I bought new bed sheet with his favourite cartoon charactors and decorate a little bit. The best is you go with your daughter for her to choose her own bed sheet. Before that I let him know about my plan and everytime he cried too when he knows he will have to sleep by himself. But surprisingly he did pretty good since 1/9/04 and didn't cry at all. I don't even need to stay and wait until he went to sleep. So I think you can also do it. Just be patient. Try the first week stay with her and tell her stories. Wait until she falls asleep and you leave the room. Then the 2nd week, leave the room after the story time. YOu can even buy some stickers and let her stick on either the wall or wardrobe besides her. The most important thing is let her know this is her own room.
