我想問移左民前, 你地d 保險會唔會仲響hk 繼續供? 有朋友做 finanical planner, 佢話響香港買保險唔駛俾稅, 而且危疾/人壽既保障係全球性, 所以有好多人都係專程黎香港買保險. 我諗緊好唔好響移民前買定先, 仲有係幫bb做份教育基金. 咁做有咩要注意番?

如果我移民, 我都會keep 番香港既銀行戶口. d credit card 係咪去番有戶口既銀行度出番會方便 d 呢? 定係你地會 cut 晒佢架??

你地有冇通知稅局話要移民咁拎番d預繳稅? 如果我唔通知稅局的話, 政府仲知唔知我移左民?

For insurance, I think it is better to buy it at the country you are going to stay because it is easier for you to claim and wont affect by any exchange rate. In Canada, life insurance also tax free, so buying from HK has no advantage. Remeber all insurance has to pay every year and if you are overseas, you may need to do wire transfer in the future.
Bank account, yes, it is always good to keep 1 account but make sure they have no bank fee. I just have bad experience recently as I cannot provide any billing address statement and they dont accept my old ID card.
I think even though you dont info the govt, your record will show you are out of the country. 預繳稅, I guess if you concern, just call the taxation and ask them how to get it back before you leave.

我都覺得去番外國買保險好 d, 我有咩冬瓜豆腐, 去番果邊 claim 錢都易 d. 而家我同bb 仲未走, 我地又冇買保險... 希望呢幾個月唔會有事啦!

Since your husband is local, why dont you ask him to do some research regarding on insurance and education fund. Or ask him to find the provider and you email them to get the quote.

In Canada, the govt are encouraging all of us to buy the education fund and each year we can buy max $2500 and the govt will add another 20% to our fund.

我都有叫佢幫手做定 d research 呀~ 不過我個 friend 講到香港唔駛俾稅, 買保險和教育基金都會好 d. 我諗住由熟朋友跟番我 d 單又好似放心d, 不過有時又覺得好似隔山買牛咁.

我又有野想問: 你地有冇問醫院和醫生拎番bb d 醫療報告俾外國既醫院/醫生 keep record? 我個bb一出世就肺炎, 健康院本小冊子和醫院封出院信寫左咩原因, 不過係咪帶埋bb d 醫療報告和 xray副本會好 d 呢?

I still keep my life insurance policies in HK & 繼續供 as it is a kind of savings anyway.

I keep only 1 credit card in HK but statement send to where I live now and still pay in HK$. Keep my HK bank account as I do use my credit card to pay for my insurance & set up autopay to pay my credit card from my HK bank account.
Banks in other countries do not issue credit cards easily unless your hubby get you an additional card under his account. HSBC has branches all over the world but their credit card businesses in each countries are indepedent from each other. Very often, one needs to be resident for 3 years and they need to see your tax return, etc & they might not give you a good credit limit to start with. So I always find it handy to have some money & accounts in HK. I prefer to keep my money in HK as many banks abroad charge interest tax.

You need to clear your tax in HK, whether you owe the gov't or vice versa. If your employer knows that you are leaving HK for good they might hold your last salary until you have cleared your tax. Inland Revenue will issue you a 'Letter of Release' so that you can show it to your employer to get your last salary. Very easy to make appointment to clear tax with IRD when they know you're emmigrating & it can be done in a couple of hours! Remember to keep & bring receipts of donations, education allowance, etc. (if any) ~ they did ask to see them when I cleared my tax.

Also, if you want, you can apply to close your MPF account as well. Need to see a 政務官 or notary public to make a declaration ~ cheaper & easier to do it while you are still in HK. Then MPFA will give the money back to you.

thanks a lot!! 我而家打算 keep 一張 credit card 同埋 bank a/c (兩個係同銀行), 不過個 PPS 整極都整唔到 online 過數. 遲 d 如果仲係整唔到, 咁會申請一張同儲蓄戶口同一銀行既信用卡, 費時去到外國至開始學 set 機用 pps 又整唔到時要打 IDD 返黎用 pps.

mpf 我諗住由得佢咋... 反正唔係多錢, 我當係儲蓄啦.

我要安排寄野去外國, d 珍藏 CD, poster 都唔知寄唔寄好... 唔想霸佔娘家既地方, 但帶左過去又未必聽... d 衫又係, 好多都係生仔前減肥成功後買落, 有 d 仲未著過架, 而家生完肥左, 去到外國都唔知幾時至著得番.

I had a big collection of CDs, DVDs, photo albums, clothes, shoes in HK and I packed & send them over when I moved 4 years ago ~ still have things at 娘家 but not managed to clear them yet... Yeah, some clothes were new from when I was young & thinner & some are suits for work which I don't know if I ever need them again...CDs & DVDs look great on shelves as displays ) I didn't bring any furniture except a few electrical applicances and my 'collection' as above and I used some 30 boxes to ship them over. I think it is worth to ship them over as it is cheap compared to what you pay for your air ticket. If you choose to do so, you can stock more things for your baby as well.

When are you moving?
