just want to share with you all an unfortunate experience... NEVER TRUST AN AGENCY.
A few months ago when I was looking for a maid, my friend refered an agency to me, the agency then brought a few maids to my house for interview and I selected one who stayed behind for "try" for a day. (I am sure a lot of you do the same thing). Unfortunately, the maid stole something from my house and I reported the case to the police. She was caught and is now in jail. It was 5 months ago. Suddenly, last week, Immigration Department came to my house and said the thief was in fact holding a "visitor visa" and therefore not allowed to work. How am I supposed to know ? The agency should the visa of the maids which she recommends. However, Immigration said it is also the responsibility of the employer to check the passport when the maid comes to the house for an interview.
Please make sure to check the passport in case you want to hire any maids in the future, don't trust the agency. :evil:
