About "Your baby can read", it is a big controversy in USA. Some parents claim work great on their babies, some said no. I saw vol 1 dvd on used store for US$0.99, so I got it, I am very curious about it.
Anyway, for myself, I hate it, I feel like the dvd try to brainwash me. It draws me nuts!! My son first seems interested in it, but after watched several times, he doesn't want to watch anymore. And you supposed to let your baby watch like twice a day. My son can't even watch more than 5 mins, he asked me to turn it off and switch to "Signing Time". So I am glad that I got it for US$0.99. hahaha...
I don't have 工人姐姐, but I teach my husband. Also, when I visited HK last year, I taught my parents too, so they understood what my son wants and needs. Now he is 23-month old, he knows a lot of sign language. He can talk a little bit, when he talks, he always signs the word too. So sometime he says some words I don't understand, but because he signs it, so I know what he means, and I can correct him. I strongly recommend sign language! You will be amazed how much they can learn.
But one thing in mind, you need to watch with him, not just leave him on the sofa. Otherwise, he will lose interest, plus you need to learn all the sign language, so you can practice with him and you can communicate with him.
I will recommend "Signing Time" dvd, it teaches Baby Sign Language, my son started to watch around 9 months, by the time he was 11 months old, he can sign several words, like eat, milk, more etc. So when he needed to eat, he would sign "Eat", if it is not enough food, he would sign "More". He can learn sign language and english the same time.
I know that baby sign language is not popular in Hong Kong, I am from US, baby sign language is very popular here. Your baby will learn English, coz the dvd is in English.
