HI doggie - how are you? Really looking forward to next Tue --- school starts again. Summer holiday is almost over & I can have some free time again starting next week!!!
We went to Edmonton last week & stay 2 nights but spend the 3 days in West Edmonton Mall only for the kids to play & swim, my son said it was the best vacation in his life. And the 1st time we pump our gas at 102, while in Calgary it's still 979 or 989, woo, so expensive. I told my son the other day that we will drive less and so we will walk to & from school everyday, he hates walking. But of course I want to drive because he will start school at 8am (Grade 4) & my girl 830am(kindergarten), how can I manage to settle them by just walking, you know, time is precious becomes less in the morning.
Yesterday registered him in indoor soocer, cost is so high $275 for 4 or 5 months in the winter season, & swimming lessons for both of them cost about $100, my girl wants piano lesson & gymnastic. It really cause me big head to arrange their time to be their driver. So I will keep my part-time job, hopefully I can still manage, but the big headache is cooking.
Talk to you later, are you planning to go to HK this fall, I always wants to go, but after i checked the fare in December (I have to go during my kids winter break) it is so expensive. Better save more money before planning anything.
calgary - I'm fine - one more month - then will be back to HK
summer gone so quick - I did not spent much time with my godchildren - as they have their own program - training camp from the air cadet. God daughter enrolled to the drama course - performance of Mama mia... so cue.
yes- next week - school start - can't imagine how the traffic will be - with the high gas fuel - $1.30 - scare to go for long trip. so better stay in town - doing BBQ (in my friend's place) during the coming long weekend.
We are doing our interlock driveway and patio so our house is in a mess/dusty, but hopefully everything will be complete by middle of Sept then we could still have our last BBQ (for the summer) in our house. If not, have to wait till next year le..
so quiet nowadays in the topic - thanks for your response... I thought I am the only one keep viewing this topic le. :-(
keep posting - have a nice long weekend.
Hi doggie - Usually I view the topics & didn't reply 'cause it was usually late in the night (Canada time)& its the peak time in HK, it's really slooow in viewing just 1 page.
Finally my son is back to school again, keep saying boring for the whole summer. We did drive this morning (he requested), but the traffic is really jam. Our gas finally hit 114.4, almost triple the price when I first came here.
So good you can go to HK, my mom always ask me when I will go back to change my HKID, are you going to do it this time, better make an appointment online before you go.
My girl keep bothering me, this is her first day to kindergarten, & she goes to school for just 1 hr for today & tomorrow - still not quite free yet until Thursday.
ckkcwl - rememebered you went back to HK in March for 1 month While this time, I only go for 2 weeks le.
TKO = Tsang Kwan O? I knew it might only take 5 mins to get the new ID (photo shot) but need to wait for a month in order to get the new card. How you get your new card? Mail it back to Toronto? or someone bring it over to you?
I don't have any person coming over, and don't have that long holiday to wait for a month... so still thinking.
is it safe to mail the ID over to toronto? I doubt about that.
is toronto getting cool now? I am a canadian chinese but came back to HK 10 years ago..now i am married and have a baby of 6 months. can anyone pls tell me what is the expenses like in toronto nowadays?
i really want to go back but am afraid that me n my husband cannot find jobs..is it difficult to find a job?
the weather nowadays is still ok - 13-15C in the morning and evening, noon time around 28C.
the expenes - depends where u want to live and what kind of food to eat.
the only thing I could say is - car insurance is really expensive. But since you are canadian, thought you still have your driving licence - not a new driver - then.. should be better.
for us - came in 2002 Dec, new driver, car insurance is $3200 for a year.
Job- depends on what kind of job. should not be a problem - but of course, don't expect to make the same $$ as you did back in HK.
For me - about 50% cut, but now with the high exchange rate, only 1/3 lesss than what I have back in HK.
yes in HK we make more $$ but i can tell you i hate this place..everyone is talking about $$ and the work pressure is extremely high, not to mention the living std is incredibly expensive!!!
the only concern i have is for my husband, since his english is limited..i am not sure what he can do.
another concern i have is my baby. since hes only 6 months..so i may need to wait until later.
I also a Canadian and back to H.K. for almost 8 years and have a baby boy for 3 years now. I also decide to go back to Canada, but I saw your message that I also afraid I can't find a job in Canada. Also I have a driving lic. but already expired, so I think the car insurance is very expensive for me. I would like to know is job easy to find in Canada right now?
lichee - what do you mean public security? you meant kids being "hit" by the other kids?
depends on which areas you lived and some areas do have the racism. but if you report to the school principal, they will do something -may not be 100% avoid...
