It must be tough if you have to move around as too much baby stuff will come along! Goldcoast is a nice place, warm and beautifull but be careful as racism is higher on those area.

To all mix mommies,
Just wonder how you guys maintain Chinese culture since our other half is not Chinese? I feel very hard as my daughter seems understand Valentine day rather than CNY!

我尋日公司outing，去咗AIA carnival，自己同同事玩咗兩個鐘我老公先帶個女join我。
Kiely 勁happy，佢初初都有少少驚，不過玩多一陣就唔肯出嚟，除了唔鐘意玩咖啡杯個西部牛仔轉轉之外，乜都玩幾次，直落玩了兩個鐘！！至鐘意飛天椅同騎馬仔！！
估唔到一個2歲幾嘅小朋友可以咁大膽，自己一個飛到半天都唔驚！

hi xother,

I don't worried my son ( 4 months) have no knowledge of our chinese culture as long as he lives in HK. My families ( his relatives in HK) are all Chinese

the only issue that i care is the language he will speak....me and my families speak cantonese. They are not good at english ; me and hubby talk in English ; my hubby and his families ( in his home country and keep in contact in phone often), his friends in HK......talking in their mother tough........


what a mass is it ???!!!!

Do you think you will send your son to international school? yes, as long as you live in HK, the Chinese culture remains but on the other hand, the husband's culture get washed out. I hope he doesnt mind.

As I am in Canada, my daughter speak good English as the environment drives her to speak English. I have talked to other Canadian moms and most of them agree that kids nowadays celebrate Xmas more. It seems not much I can do if this is the trend.

EXACTLY so I always push hubby to talk to our son in his mother laugue otherwise, when talk the secret , me and my son speak in Chinese, he don't understand. and he cannot have secret talk with son as I understand English.

Our son is small.....I just worried he cannot get well with the mix of langage ( 3 types) here

your son still very young, dont worry too much. If your husband cannot speak Cantonese and you only speak English at home, then he will pick up English without doubt. Then it is up to you to put him in international school or local school as he will build up his language skills there.
My neigbour's daughter is Chinese and Japanese mix, she put the daughter in MIL house and she pick up Cantonese, at home daddy speak in English (as he couldnt speak Cantonese), but the mom takes care of her most of time and she alway put Japanese cartoon, DVD, so she speaks 3 languages. The mom told me that the daughter actually switch by herself in different language and now she is about 3yrs.

I heard many cases that kids can do well in dual languages but I just dont want to take risk of delay speech and I switch to full English when she was 1.5yr. Now my daughter only speak English but she is very good on it. She even correct me when I say things in my Chinese way of English as correct my prouniciation.

any celebration with your husband? I stop my husband to buy anything as I think it is waste of money. It includes chocolates as I dont like it very much.

In fact, my daughter did make a valentine card with a heart on it. She said it is for daddy and she has the other one with sticker is for mommy. I think that is enough for me!

Lucky,my hubby's company will give us some allowance when we moved,so,we will ask removal to do those job for us,and especially my mum still think for a pregnant woman to move around!!!
I havent been to Gold Coast yet,my hubby said it's a really good place to live and in Brisbane there a lot of Asians around!!!

Haha,I have been thinking of this b4,coz my mum said if a tsunami happened,Gold Coast will be done in few minutes,and my hubby said in the rivers ppl saw sharks in there b4, and now i am getting a bit worried !!! :-(

Is there any mum live in Brisbane or Gold Coast now???
