My baby is now 9-month+, I have bought 3 training cups since she aged 6-month :
1) Tommee Tippee 5-in-1
2) Avent with soft sprout
3) Combi with soft straw
I have tried to fill with her favourite juices to attract her to drink with sprout or straw.. however... unsuccessful~!!! she doesn't suck the sprout nor the straw neither and got bad-tempered, then hit the cup onto the table or throw it away~!! Then I have no choice but have to feed by the nipple of the Tommee Tippee cup....
May i ask if it is a must to go through the soft sprout drinking stage before using straw???? Any solution to help baby for the transition of drinking by sprout or straw?
Happy Gathering ah. Bobo was very very happy and she don't want to sleep after the gathering le. Besides, Gigi also enjoy to play with other BB and she bought two books after the gathering. She was very very happy because no need to do exercises at home ma.

My Justin also do not like to drink with the training cup. He only drinks when we play with him, or really really really...... thirsty. Also, he rather bites it than suck it. Actually, he know how to suck with straw while he was 4-month-old. I think it is not the kind of cups you are using..... eg. some babies like to drink water when they were born, but Justin refused it even when he was 10 days old. You know what I mean?! But this is only my opinion, let's wait for others mamas responses.
Yesterday, Justin 用個頭 "hum" 我個口, 爆左 "光"(我個口) ar<--- what?? what made him so excited??? Are you OK? Naughty Justin .. beat his patpat ar~
Thank you for your response... I can understand what you mean... sometimes just becos the baby 'doesn't like'.....right? At least Justin knows how to drink by straw, but my Charmaine obviously doesn't know how to suck by the straw nor the sprout.... I don't dare to make her very thirsty.. so finally I '投杭' and give her back the cup with teat... but if I keep on this.. she will never know how to drink with sprout or straw... very headache...
May I ask how do other mamas train your babies to drink by straw? Like Holmanma? Pls share~

Indeed, I used combi no. 2 training cup for 1-2 month first. It's a hard teat with 2 very small holes for Holman to drink like the milk bottle. When Holman was used to no. 2 cup, I changed to no. 3. At first, he knew how to such but not swallow. So, his 口水肩would wet through everytime he drank. But, you have to trust your baby. They really learn very fast. Holman knew how to such and swallow after 1-2 week training. :mrgreen: (Just one thing to remind: you have to turn the white "button" 90 degree first to monitor the water flow rate when the baby such). Hope it can help you :wink:

But may I ask if I can skip the No. 2 sprout and goto No. 3 straw? as I feel it's very tired of raising up the cup to drink with the sprout.... so.. did you give Holman to drink with No.3 (straw) only at that time? or you still give him back the No.2 when he doesn't like or couldn't drink from No. 3?? I am afraid Charmaine will feel very thristy if i refuse to give her back the cup with teat and she only likes...
I use Avent with soft sprout too, it is quite good for my Justin ka. He like to bite it, of course! :lol: But he also like to drink it. Because he is a '水怪'as same as me :lol: . But he refuse to use GERBER training cup. He only bite it. I try to teach him how to drink but he still bite it only! So, I don't know what to do too!! But at least he use Avent.
But this is only my opinion, let's wait for others mamas responses.
