Oyster card is v. good. The price for each single trip is cheaper and there is a ceiling ( I remember the ceiling price is equal to the 1 day pass).

But it only include certain zone ( I can't exactlly remember). Another disadvantage is the deposit. Just like our octopus, u can get the deposit back, but u need to do it in the airport, so it's not good if u are in a hurry and u may need to get the tax refund at the same time.

You don't need to pay 3 pounds as deposit if you are buying 7 day travel pass. They will upload the 7 day travel pass on the Oyster card. You can then top up any amount on the Oyster card.
I bought 1 7 day travel pass (for zone 1-2 at 24.2 pounds) uploaded on the Oyster card and then topped up 2 pounds for the single journey from Heathrow to central london.
On the return journey to Heathrow, I topped up another 2 pounds again. Now I have 1 Oyster card without any value. When I need to use it again, I have to top up first."
