I've stopped sending my son to school since yesterday. His class teacher called me today to check for his status. Nearly half of his class has also applied leave. I've asked her if the principle has planned to suspend school, she said the ED has informed the school that it is not that necessary.... classes continue.... so I decide to take my own precaution....
My girl studing in Lower class didn't go to SC since last week. I rec'd a call from another mum yesterday. She told me that one of the parent is alleged and the kid is taking school bus No. 12.(Ma On Shan Route).
I haven't decide will let my son go to school tomorrow or not! My boy told me they have 9 classmates absent today and all staff in SC wear the masks except the class teacher.
My husband was pretty serious stop me don't let my son go to school or attend any courses from now on. I had a strong suspicion do I need to so panic?
eggeggma,
will you bring your girl to school tomorrow?
I will let my girl to school. It seems that "the most dangerous place is now the most safest place," becuase I know the school has taken the precaution, while I can do nothing to my neighbourhood (MA ON SHAN where Dr. Ho lives) (Luckily, when the alleged kid was on the school bus no. 12 last 2 weeks, my girl was on a sick-leave). I don't think you can keep the girl at home for 24 hours without going out. Better bring her out of MOS and so I can finish all shopping before she returns.
Yesterday I saw some peers of my girl continued to travel on school bus on their own, and some without masks.
My girl has finished this week's homework (Wed-Fri) and so no serious school stuff to do. May ask her to revise what she has learnt since this term as you have already done. Ask her to do some exercises, brought from bookstores of similar level, and practise handwriting. This week's activities are cancelled, but insists her to practise violin, which she has stopped for a few weeks because of influenza. As to whether she will attend these activities next week, depends on the situation. Luckily, my girl is quite independent, she can find something to amuse herself, e.g., she has just asked to play Blue-clues CD-ROM.
Can you tell me the name of that book, I want to buy it as addtional reference for my son.
I have no idea how the school will introduce the kids on the concept of addition and subtraction, that is why I haven't started to teach my son cos I'm afraid that might make him confused. Can you suggest me your ways?
The school has already started to introduce addition, e.g., 2 and 1 make 3. You can check number book 3-4. This week's homework includes one page on addition using pictures instead of numbers. Moreover, for several weeks, my girl has been testing me "3 + 3 = ?" I guess the school has done something already OR she learns from others (I am not sure). But I think it is the right time for you to encourage and teach your kid.
