Hi Rachethew,

My daughter's test result on Chinese is not so satisfactory but I am not surprised at all. Hope she will work harder.

For the music festival, she is trying marimba for the first time. She is playing the junior duet with a classmate and as we have different teachers, it may end up just practising by themselves without much tutorial. I think just for fun.

Matthew 今次中文測驗成績都係麻麻地，佢自己都話 3 年級d 中文深咗好多呀！
今年校際 Matthew 有幾首歌都同 Elise 一樣，到時可以大家觀摩吓啦！
其實 Matthew 都好想有同學一齋彈 Duet，但今年 Violin 個同學都唔肯拉，所以佢都係只可以同家姐彈咋！

Hi Rachethew,

Some parents said that the standard of all subjects would be raised this year. I agree that the Chinese has become more demanding, and Elise has read too little Chinese over the holiday.

The percussion exam is coming up in early Nov. and Elise's drum sounds terrible. She has to work hard over these two weeks.

Hi JP,

My daughter is taking her first percussion exam next Friday at Grade 4. She only practices twice a week - before lesson and during lesson. We may start practising the sight-reading and aural. I hope she can pass.

But for James, that should be no problem.

I think her teacher may still use the G3-4 book after the exam.

Thanks for your reply! I've bought g.3/4 percussion exam books yesterday. I think we will follow the study plan of the percussion tutor for the time being.

Hope Elise every success in her coming percussion exam!

James took his piano exam last Tuesday! He's not satisfied with his performance that day--he found the exam room too chilly and the aural part too challenging!!

But anyway, it's a big release for him and he can focus on his music festival pieces now.

Hi JP,

How you doing??? I haven't been around for months... busy, busy. My daughter also took her violin exam last Thursday. What she described to me was horrible, the examiner asked her 12 most difficult scales, the sight -reading was also not doing well and of course, her weakest part - Aural was poor too. The piano accompanist told me even one of her exam pieces was too rushed . :cry:

I know that her aural part was poor, as she never learned piano before and we got a theory teacher to teach her grade 8 aural in only 8 lessons. The comment of the teacher before the exam was if she got pass in the aural part is a real miracle & a genius

. Just hope that she can get 6-8 marks in that section. I am so scared now... ! Do you think it is easy to fail in higher grade exam?
The examiner is a young British girl. My friend told me young examiners are alwasy demanding and the marks are really strict too... :-( :-(

I've no idea about violin exam wor!!
But I'm confident about Sandy's basic skills and I trust her exam pieces would be OK.

I know a kid who failed in aural part but still got distinction in his gr.7 piano exam.

Looking forward to seeing Sandy's exam result!

。

我女上個月都考了theory，而家等緊成績，希望合格唔使晒錢晒時間再考過啦!

今年我女校際都只係參加了flute，都現時為止連份譜都未見過，flute老師又話唔教(唔係琴行教)又話教(轉私人上佢屋企教)，但flute老師係阿sir，唔知佢屋企平時有無人，居住環境如何....我又唔想堂堂"得"係人地屋企等成粒鐘，但點都有dddd擔心，都唔知點好。

今年妳咁忙, 少左上黎都唔 :evil: 妳啦

咁橋既, 阿女黎緊都係只參加校際大提琴, 鋼琴出年有考試, 所以唔參加 lu, 妳女出年都考試?

若果 Christy 轉去阿 sir 屋企上, 小心駛得慢年船, 我自己就一定會跟埋上去, 除非教室有其他人 (e.g. receptionist); 好似 Maggie 依家都上阿 sir 屋企學英文, 每堂我都會係度, 扮睇書又好扮訓都好

, 都唔可以只係兩個, 女仔真係唔放心嫁 :) .
