Power off & lucky me
Today afternoon, my office was power off and everybody had to evacated from the building. Luckily, I was taking my after-lunch walk when it happened. When I went back to the building, everybody (some of them I don't even know) stopped me from entering. It was caused by a PG&E problem and some people smell gas on their floor. All the power was off - no ventilation, no computer, no light... The building management announced the incident and asked everybody walk downstairs for safety reason. My office is on the 23rd floor and some of my co-workers went downstairs and then went back upstairs before I came back to the building. After a while, I was told that the power was back, the building started the back-up generator and we could use the elevator. However, after the elevator stopped on the 21st floor and some of the passengers went out, it shown a malfunction signal and went all the way down to ground floor. Then, I was stucked at G/F. I called my husband and he told me to go home because the problem will not be solved in 1 or 2 hours and I should not try to go back.
1 hour 15 mins after the incident, everybody was told to leave and my co-workers had to walk downstairs again. I think that I was lucky. If I was working upstairs and I need to walk 23 floors downstairs, it will kill me. Or, if the elevator was working and I went back upstairs, I must need to walk downstairs. Finally, I could get off from work 1 hour earlier and went to my mom's home, played with Spencer and waited for my hubby to take us home. :)
