On the other hand, 2004 is a sad year with the tramatic tsunami taking thousands of life in SE Asia. If u want to learn more and make donations, here are some HK websites:
chingbj,
i lived at "ereira" (sorry, can't write chinese from my pc). i haven't visited my family since bb was born. only my mom came here to visit us twice.
i suggest u should travel w/ bb while he's still young (better before he can walk or even crawl). that should be easier. i regret that we didn't do any travelling when our bb was younger.
i completely understand how u feel ... abt the live-in nanny. we'd thought abt having a live-in nanny since my m-i-l was back to HK. we posted an ad to the local chinese newspaper for several times, but i was so disappointed abt the qualities of the callers. we've tried a live-in nanny for abt 2 weeks. then i had to ask her to go, but bb's red pocket (a few hundred bucks) given by my mom was also gone. now i almost give up the idea to hv a live-in nanny.
What city do you live in? I'm also in LA...Walnut...close to Whalebb.
SY_Mom,
I also hired a chinese live-in and had to let her go after 2 weeks. I just could not leave my bb home with her by herself. It was nice to have her do the housework and cooking, but my husband couldn't stand having another person in the house. He likes to run around topless So finally decided to become a full time mom and keep the old housekeeper to do the cleaning.

You are full time mom too?? But I thought you mentioned you need to work in departmental store and got some discount....Anyway, I guess you must be so busy in packing and organizing all the moving... I already reached 195lbs and when I went out with my husband, I felt other people looked at me at ?-( "How come so fat??"...So, I am waiting my baby come out and can back to normal size
SY Mom
I live in South San Jose and you are in Sunset or SF I am not sure....but I do know a lot USA mom in Bay area.... Hopefully, we can have some gathering in future la...
Thank you so much and Chloe mean blossom and Chinese name is 高怡
Will you guys help your kid to get HK ID when you back to HK?? I want to get her a HK ID.....but I don't know how to apply as she will be born in US...
To get a passport for your bb is very easy. Bring in your bb's birth certificate and photos. do the same as you get your us passport.
To get a bb' hk id card, you need your bb's birth certificate and both mommy's and daddy's hk id. (need to wait for 6 weeks)
Check with local Post Offices to see if they have the service. We did all our renewal and bb's passport at post office. For child's passport, make sure u take the child/bb with u when you submit the application. Also, I found Costco is the cheapest to take passport photo.
You can go to this website to search for a passport location near your home..." http://travel.state.gov/ " Forms can be download online and some locations can take passport photo.
If your child is under 14 years old, both you and your husband need to go to apply. Hope this helps.
I agreed...it's very hard to adjust to a stranger moving into the house. Cleaning lady is okay la because they only come for few hours and then leave. I think even if I hire help when I decide to have my next child, I will have her go home at night.
