I want to install an IP cam with the following criteria:
1) can view at work at real time basis
2) can view via my mobile at real time basis (I will upgrade to 3G later)
3) can view and record via my PC at home.
4) both my office and home are using PCCW.
5) At home, I have broadband sockets in dinning room & bedrooms.
Do you have any recommendatons on:
1) Type of IP cam
2) Price
3) Configuration of set-up

How about setting back to factory default setting of IP-cam to test? As I don't have PDA phone or Pocket PC, I am not sure of your problem. Also have you tried to phone the distributor and ask for help?

1. It depends on office firewall setting. There is no guarantee of success because firewall setting are different in different offices. As you are using Netvigator at home, port 80 is blocked, if your office firewall denies all HTTP access to non-port 80 websites (i.e. websites that you have to add port number at the back of domain name), then there is no way to access your IP cam from home.

2. You need to choose models that says support 3G phone video streaming. Examples are Vivotek PT7135/7, Dlink DCS-5220, Level One WCS-2060. These models support RTSP protocol for video streaming (so ActiveX is not needed anymore)

3. All the above models are bundled with free software to record video at PC.

4. No difference is made for your office ISP, but for PCCW at home, it has following characteristics. a) As it use PPPoE, IP address changes very time you log in / reboot. Therefore you have to use DDNS at your router/IP-cam. b) Port 80 is blocked, so you cannot use port 80 at the router. (i.e. you can use HTTP port 80 for LAN, but you have to change the public port to other port number at port forward page at router) Also it is likely to have the problem with firewall as said in 1.

5. This makes no difference.

Recommendation
1. The 3 examples above. In fact I suspect they are made of same hardware and only different in firmware. Vivotek PT7135/7 supports HTTP mode (so should be best for going through firewall) with latest firmware, Dlink DCS-5220 supports recording at webpage, and Level one WCS-2060 bundles with recording software with more IP-cam than others (32 IP-cams). Choose what you need.

2. All above are with price around 2000-2500 for wireless models, around 300 less for wired models if available. For fixed cams, price is around 1000-1500; for optical zoom models, price is over 4000.

3. Basically set up requires some knowledge with networking. If you consider yourself as computer idiot, you should go to shops that provide installation service.

,成日用說已經開了rounter (port 80 及 all port), 但事實不是,完全成個月在打太極,個個都是高手,我在我的IT 朋友說,你真不是辨法;他教我一定同他們說我已經付了$500開PORT FORWARD費用了,你們一定給我完成;不要說不關你們(TECHNICAL DEPT)他們事(CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPT)

,結果COMPLAINED之後2-3天,有師傅仔上來,他都是PORT :9000是不可用,可用PORT 80;由於個個師傅仔/CLIENT不同,所以只可告訴(BOTH）你們CONFIRM先好!
之前足足弄到氣

月費會唔會加? 不用;但我的ｒｏｕｎｔｅｒ是ｐ公司的，申請前註明要開ａｌｌｐｏｒｔs,要不然要等完約後,就不用付申請費.
但中途改form 內容要付申請費了.
如普通pc我就未試過,如果你try請給我結果

Can you help me? I have installed the Vivoteck PT7137. When I logon to the vivoteck page, the screen is "black" but have Vivoteck on the top of the page. Do you have any idea how to fix? Thank you.

Okay when connecting with LAN cable but not via Wi-Fi? Strange! What router are you using? Is the signal strong enough?
