Hi, my family now lives in LA, however, we just move here from HK 3 years ago. And now because our little baby has the asthma, we are thinking of whether it's better to move back to HK. Sounds weird, since HK has more polluted air, why not stay in US, right? Well, I myself suffered from asthma, and I know very well the side effects of the western medicines, so I believe more in Chinese medicine. Also, we need more family support, here in US, we are fighting the battle alone.
How old is your kid? It's good that he does not have an attack for one year. How u manage to do that?
And your friend's story is very encouraging. Do u think I can contact her to learn more about his son's experience with Pulmicort? I am afraid that our pediatrican will recommend that to us and I want to gather more info b4 we make any decision. My email address is [email protected].
Do u know what is the youngest age to try this treatment? My father last time recommended me to try (since I also had asthma) and he said the results he heard seems very positive.
IYYY, cailford,
Don’t think of 又係我衰,傳比個仔. We cannot control our genes, right? What is there, is there. I used to tell others: “it’s important to look into how to help them now, rather than look back and blame ourselves”
What western medicine were you taking? I don't know how old you are but steriod inhalant was used as an asthmatic preventive measures back in the 80s only so if you were using something else that might be the issue.
My son is 3 and a half. He had his first attack 14 months ago. We got him to take Chinese medicine and I kind of believe that's how he got a severe attack last July. Since then we stopped the Chinese herbal tea and he is purely on daily Pulmicort. And we cook crocodile soup for him once a week. So far so good. As he ages, he is coughing less too not to mention about his asthma being under control.
I am just citing an example and not to mean that Chinese herbal treatment doesn't work. But I won't try it for my son anymore.
I have read from the web that asthma is actually more popular in the western world than in HK. I guess it has to do with pollen and hay fever that are not around in HK. And if you asthma, your kid is having higher chance of inheriting it from you (mom only, dad was not mentioned)
How old is your child? Is he having regular flareup? What treatment is he on? Are you still having asthma flareup yourself?
