如Natmama所言, you can keep the extra-small size clothes, 生完可以著, 我現在可以wear回以前的衣服。在情人節看ob, 有多一層意義。我相信你那天定會很excited. 我以前懷孕時, 每次看ob, 看sonogram, 都會很興奮.雖然每次都是我自己去看(當時我老公在美國, 我在香港).
懷孕初期, 胃口不佳是正常反應, 不用害怕。很多大肚婆有此反應, 有些更會嘔吐。我懷孕時, 一到夜晚那餐就沒有胃口, 覺得媽媽煮得很難食(其實我媽媽煮得ok), 食很少。三個月後, 胃口就變得好好。你可以試下飲孕婦奶粉, 記住要食葉酸(folic acid),it is good for baby's brain development.

My mom also told me not to appraise baby ar...
Cos my baby still need someone to rock her to sleep and so I take night shift and my mom take the day shift. Hopefully, before my mom back to HK, my baby don't need to rock, otherwise....I don't know how can I rock her both day and night.

I changed her diaper before and even changed her clothes at night cos she splitting milk...then she will cry a lot..... :-( Now, I will not change her diaper or clothes at night as long as she did not cry....then, I guess she is getting better.

你可以大概6個月開始俾佢用學習杯, 起初佢會渣住唔識得飲, 又會涿親, 又會用黎敲呢到個度, 不過慢慢佢就會學識用, 我俾佢用GERBER學習杯, OK, 不過軟膠部份容易有積難難洗, 硬膠會易洗好多. 我B女6個月開始用, 真係識得自己拿住啜係10個月大既時候. 仲有如果你附近有safeway,佢地有好多cheese 俾你揀, 話唔定有你想要隻牌子, 都幾好, 成個櫃都係 cheese!!!

Thanks for the pics of Nick and Kyle. Nick seems to be a good big brother and Kyle is growing fast.
Just realize that Nick is just abt a month younger than my boy.
Thanks for yr info abt stomach flu. BB should be ok now. Probably I fed him some Gerber Pear right after he's just recovered, so it triggered the mild diarreha again.

Yr baby looks big! I think u did a great job although he was kinda small when he's born.
My boy was over 8 lbs (abt 75 %-tile) when he was born but now his weight is abt 10 %-tile only. Even he ate a lot during the few few months, he couldn’t keep up to the percentile of his birth weight. Now I don't care too much abt his weight as long as he's healthy and everything else is doing ok.
So I always told my friends they don't hv to care much abt the bbs' birth size as long as they eat well and sleep well and not getting sick too often afterwards. It would be great if bb was born at smaller size (easier to give birth) but catch up weight really quick. My friend's girl also was born at 5 lbs 10 oz but she's at 90% now.

If I were u, I wouldn't spend the money to buy the playpen now as mini-Matt is already 6m old.
We had the playpen as a shower gift. However, my boy started to stand up by holding thing when he's abt 7.5m. We didn't expect him to do that by that time, so we didn't lower the mattress of the playpen. One day, he woke up abt 5 mins after his nap and started to stand up to grab the musical mobile while i was in the bathroom. Then, he fell down from the playpen (without the mattress lowered). That day I was so scared and couldn't sleep. Thanks God that he's doing ok.
A couple months later, he didn't even wanna get into the playpen at all and always try to escape from it.
So, I think it's not that safe after he can stand up.

But frankly, I don't encourage my friends to have kids (maybe i'm already burned myself out). If they really want it, I always tell them girls are better than boys in general.
Btw, I didn't buy too many clothes for maternity. I'm also kinda petite size (size S; even size XS b4 coming to US). So, I just bought some bigger size of regular pants and wore my size S shirts (but became a bit shorter) during my first 6-7 months of pregnancy. After that, I just bought several pieces of clothes from Motherhood.
I've never heard abt the special kinda seatbelt for maternity. Maybe it's new. However, I'd been driving until the day b4 I gave birth and had no problem of using the regular seatbelt, but just be a bit careful when pushing on the brake.

My boy has been putting on the Aveeno cream (abt twice a day) since he's abt 5m old. B4 that he just had cetaphil cream which is also ok.
He also tried Aquaphor but seems to be a bit too oily for him.
I was also thinking of going to HK w/ bb after Chinese New Year and stay for a month or two. However, I just realized that flu season peaks in Feb and Mar in HK. Plus the Menigitis (spelling?) cases are terrible. U're right ... seems more diseases during Spring time in HK.

But I do wanna go, cos I plan to put bb in pre-school and go back to work after he turns 2.
I think I might being more discriminated in the IT world if they (esp. men) realize that i've been a stay-home mom for over 2 yrs.

I didn't eat the "ginger pig feet" until bb was 1m old. but then i heard that it's ok for the c-sect moms to hv that after 12-14 days.
For the "sit moon" menu, I only had chicken soup w/ black beans (NOT "dout see") most of the time. I guess that's what my m-i-l can make. She was a nurse in HK (but been in admin for a long time). So she told me I can eat everything but the traditional "sit moon" dishes/soups, cos those are dirty, unhealthy, not good for me, etc. Besides that, she cooked lots of sweetened bird-nest and "Fa Ow" for everybody after i gave birth.
Everybody thought I had a personal nurse to take care of me for "sit moon", but actually .... sigh ...
Fortunately, I was doing ok. The incision looks ok now as the pink color fading out.

Btw, although the chinese soup help a bit abt the breastmilk production, i found it most effective way is to keep nursing during night time. When u nurse more, the milk will become more. it's really a supply and demand issue.
However, don't push yrself too hard. I hv a friend who just breastfed her bb for abt 2 weeks only and quit. her bb is 15m old and still really healthy.

I completely understand how u feel ... When I was in Alabama, I didn't even know when it's Chinese New Year.
It looks like yr little girl can walk now?!

P.S. I wrote the above messages 2 days ago (just in case u don’t know what I’m taking about …). The BK network has been so slow these couple days (although we hv DSL at home). Maybe I hit it at the HK peak hours??!

long time no talk too! How's going? I read your old message, you are really super. You cook many Chinese food. You must have a lot of interest for cooking. Your family has "mouth Fok ". About the baby lotion, I use "Aquaphor" from "Eurcerin" same as Natmama use. I bought this from" Babi "r"us ". Feb 9 is CNY first day. For me, no special. My husband is working. Me still stay home be a mom. But I will call my HK family and relatives for " bye lin. "

The laughing cow cheese, I bought it from Ralph & trader Joe. I bought the size is 21g ( Mini Babybel original ) so you need cut a small pcs to your bb. Or put them in congee. My bb love eat too ! I bought the learn drink cup from walmart ( sorry,I don't find the brand in the cup, but it is plastic with see through, so that I can see how many liquid inside ) one cup from " The first year baby " The cups have two ears for holding. When you train bb drink in the beginning, you need patient to let your bb make wet everywhere including bb bibs. After then, bb must improve.

My maternity dress was from my cousin and friend. They all from HK. One of my friend help me buy one burbury pattern dress for me, it about HK$150. I bought one maternity jean from "Motherhood" it was quite good. and I saw inside had other xs size maternity dress. ( has fashion and reasonable price ) and also I bought large size for my matenity cloth and pant only. To make yourself pretty d la! Enjoy !!

I think Mini-Matt must be more full with the 2 oz. formula you fed him and that's why he slept for longer. Babies digest breastmilk really fast and needs to be fed again within 2-3 hours. Have you thought of giving him all formula on his night feed so he will be fuller

Thanks for the info. on the preschool. Let me know if you want me to call for you so they won't know. For the "aquaphor", you can find it in the lotion section for adults. They also carry one for baby called "baby aquaphor". I read the label and the ingredient is the same so I just buy the one for adults. :mrgreen: :mrgreen:

I looked at Vanguard and they categorized the "tax free" mutual funds. You can go to their website...www.vanguard.com...and click on research funds....then click on funds by category...should be able to find it. About the IRA 529, eventhough the gains are taxable, at least the contribution is tax deductible now for you and your hubby. :lol: :lol: The beef stew turned out very yummy...it was just a little watery becuz i'm not good at controlling the consistency....everybody liked it anyways...thanks.

Maybe Chloe is not totally contend with the breast milk for night time. Maybe you should try to supplement with formula for her night feeding. You can also try swaddling (wrap up) her so she feels more secure and warm. For the night feedings, keep the room dark and don't talk to the baby. Just feed her quietly and then swaddle her and put her down. She will learn it's night time soon and should fall back asleep on her own. Sometimes the baby might be cold and giving her a long sleeve undershirt with a bodysuit should do the trick...good luck... :wink: :wink:

關於bb的睡眠問題, 是几難攪的。我的仔在頭三個月都是日夜掉轉的，我用盡所有的方法, 但都是幫助不大。It takes time for baby herself/himself to change her/his sleeping habit. 我記得當時我的做法是扭暗燈光, 抱住他, 有時則放他在床上, 用手輕拍他手口。我很少rock他, 我怕成為習慣, 不過, 有時我會輕輕哼歌給他听。我不會跟他說話, 最多有時講講, "夜la, 阿仔, 要睡la"。bb好得意, 雖然在黑暗中, 仍然會眼仔碌碌望住你或周圍的事物。日夜, 他會睡到成隻豬仔, 怎嘈都唔醒。這種情況去到三.四個月的時候才有改變，我猜可能與他隻眼開始看到立體事物有關，他開始明白日夜的分別。每個bb的適應力都不同，但他們最終一定會分辨到日夜。

關於bb的size問題, 其實, 一直以來我都不太緊張。如你所言, 只要bb健康活潑便可以了。但最近我擔心他食得太多。他現在每日的食量如下：三餐奶(每餐七安多些), 兩餐粥(每次食3/4碗, 有時甚至一碗, 是大人碗, 粥几杰的, 粥中有肉.魚和菜), 此外, 會食1jar gerber no.2 fruit. 我驚食大他的胃口, I am scared he will become a fat boy. He is 7mons and a half. He is about 19lbs now.

I think your baby's eating habit is very good...his size seeems right to. My daughter is 6 months and 18 lbs so I think they are around the same category. If you are worried, you can ask the doctor what percentile your baby is in...then you will feel better.

How come your OB told u that your 2nd girl is a boy??? Did u even pick a boy's name and then switch to a girl's name when u discovered the truth?

Biologically, the Y sperms (to make a boy!) swim faster and the X sperms (girl making) survive longer in the female's body to look for the egg. So if "things happen" before ovulation, the chance of a X sperm to win is higher, otherwise, a Y sperm will get the prize!

I think I will still work (at least that's what I think for the time being), especially my boss gives me the flexibility to change to any part-time I like. I just changed my contract to 80% of the time, so can go home a bit earlier each day

Menigitis seems so serious in China, you better not to go back to HK if it's not necessary.
I don't know yet, my husband wants to buy the playpen for mini-matt because he can bring with on vacation..I've heard from my friend that his boy doesn't like playpen either, everytime he just wants to get away from it. I don't want to waste the money again, that's why I'm still thinking..
My ped. also says that my babys' size is bigger than 90 percent of babies the same age, but he's not fat, he's just big.. :mrgreen:

I don't think I will feed him all formula because engorement will set in. And also my little boy loves a human pacifier.. :mrgreen:
Now mini-matt refuses to eat a rice cereal again.. Should I try to feed him a sweet potatos ? On the other hand, he didn't poop yesterday and farted all day, I think he's constipated .. ?-( ..

my boy also screams and cries when I dress him after bathing, but I won't stop doing it because I should let him know "Mama must do it no matter how crazy you are " ...
You better to change her diaper after peeing (not everytime), because her butt is still so sensitive, don't forget " Diaper Rash" ar..Maybe you should try to compliment her after changing, like kissing and soothing her..

Before I moved to US here, I used to work with children and their families, and saw different kinds of stories. At that time, we have not thought of having any bb, because it seems to be such a tough task... But... maybe the environment changes, or maybe we are getting "Old"... our mind sets also change accordingly

I went to immigration just because I need to get an interim work permit. My hubby and I are not immigrating here, we are just "overseas workers" for the time being. The work permit needs to renew every year, and it's not automatic!

各位

剛才睇新聞,佢哋介紹一間新開既store, 叫 whole foods market...入面d嘢(睇落)好fresh 咁,有sushi,又有new product 比你試,如hand cream 咁..有無人去過呀?

前日去咗walmart 同亞仔影相, 個女仔好nice, 仲好似professional 過,個次我去屎人babiesrus 個度.亞仔今次無喊, 不過就有d口震,唔知係唔係凍呢?.初初諗住只係比 $5 個package,點知多個六張,出嚟既效果都唔錯,所以我哋比多咗成 $60 買埋佢.. ..不過,要等多幾星期先有得取呀...

My mom only stay here for 6 weeks and so she is not having insurance here but she had her HK insurance which she can claim if she need to stay in hospital.... Some of my friends ' parents stay here for 6 months and they will get insurance here but is quite expensive...but I did not ask how expensive cos my mom isn't going to stay that long.

My baby is exactly like your baby and she sleep through during daytime and even TV is so loud, we are walking, taking and it doesn't bother her sleep.
At night, she just open her eyes and rolling around and will cry if you not rock her..... :cry:
I rock her from 3:00a.m til 5:30a.m this morning and she still not sleep....I am almost crazy :-(
So, if 3 months are the maximum....I wish I can stand that long..... :cry:

We already fed her 4 oz formula at night and want her to sleep longer but it doesn't work....Also, swadle her and even did not change her diaper or clothes at night....still no help...I guess she just like to sleep in daytime and still can't differenate day and night.... :cry:

我睇報紙有呢D叫"529 Colege Savings Plan", 大至上都係有好多portfolio俾你揀, 好似B女2004出世, 咁到佢讀大學, 18歲時係2022年, 學費會係去到$200,000咁多錢 (呢個數目係估計, 8% inflation), 不過呢個係個website提供既價目, 我覺得應該唔會咁高, OK, 咁佢呢個savings plan 就叫你一係而家分期供晒D學費, 一係就用佢地俾既portfolio去投資你既錢, 每月就大約供3-500蚊不等既美金, 佢由好保守既portfolio, 即係bonds,Cd, Money market, 到好risky既portfolio, 即係100% stocks, 都有得比你揀, 意思係將你現有既資金去滾大而meet 個target goals ($200,000)其實呢D係投資公司變相由叫你去投資你既錢用黎退休到現在叫你用你既錢去投資大學學費, 都係叫你將D錢交俾佢地去管理, 你要俾管理費同年費, 話就話分散投資, 有保證呢D字眼, 但係我覺得同香港MPF, 或者現在既基金經理同你講既都係差唔多!
