Dear Chpyeung,

I bought the Vivotek PT7137 finally. It's okay to view through my PC. However, how to view it through my mobile phone? I also use 3xplorer, how to get the snapshot? I enter the http address but failed to show the web page wor.. Please help!! Many many thanks.

1. Can you view from PCs outside your flat? (i.e. from internet). You have to set in your router to forward relevant ports when access from internet outside your flat. I think it is the cause of your failing to view using 3xplorer.

2. If you can view from outside PCs, then we can talk about 3xplorer. Run the 3xplorer on your phone and enter the web address of your IPcam. Then you will be asked to input the username and password. After you have entered the username and password and submitted, you should be able to see the webpage similar to using IE at your PC, only without the video screen. You can click on the snapshot icon or text link to get a snapshot photo.

3. For mobile phone, you need to use 3G phone's built in realplayer. Refer to DLink DCS-5220 manual as I have mentioned before. But I have tested that you must disable the RTSP authetication in the network setup page of the IPcam for the 3G viewing to work. (I have just bought a Nokia N82 and use WLAN to test video streaming)

okay wow. I tested by first connecting my N82 to the wireless router at home, and use the built-in browser of N82 to open the webpage of my cam, and after I fill in the username and password, the webpage of my cam comes up, with video window change to a realplayer icon. When I click the icon, the realplayer pops up and show the video.

I also want to buy the vivotek PT7137 and use it to view by mobile phone. But I don't have much idea on it.
Can you tell me what's different between 3Xplorer and 3G? and how's their plan and charge to view the video?

3G only means a higher bandwidth for mobile data transmission compared with 2G. 3.5G vs 3G vs 2.5G vs 2G is like Broadband vs 56K modem.

3xplorer is a service provided by 3-HK for 3G users. It utilises special 3xplorer browser to filter and compress webpages for viewing. Monthly charge is $28 fixed with unlimited usage (note you must use the 3xplorer browser and not all phones are supported, e.g. N82 is not yet supported) 3xplorer does not support video streaming (except YouTube supported by 3xplorer 2.0) so you cannot use it for browsing IP cam at home.

To browse IP cam at home, you must use standard data plan. 3-3G users may consider EasyPlus plan which starts at $28 for 2MB and will automatically upgrade your plan to $58 for 5MB or higher when the actual usage grows.

If you have a WiFi phone (N80, N82, N95 etc.) you may consider the WiFi plan where you use nearby telephone booth hotspot to view home IP cam. (only $98 per month for PCCW IMS subscriber, or $158 per month for non-IMS subscriber)

之前自己盲摸摸去買左兩支SparkLan CAS670
支cam好好, 只係自己公司block剩80port連唔到屋企睇支cam,
之後無意中係依度發現依個po...學到好多野,
最後我又走去買左Vivotek PT7135, 終於連到啦,
but 我同樣有你這個問題, 就係用mobile phone連唔到,
試過去demo site係ok的, 唔知tubobo最後解唔解決到個問題呢
應該係點set架, IP cam已set左554, 亦跟chpyeung所講disable左RTSP authentication

再在router做左port forward port554去支cam個IP度, 但都係唔得, 請chpyeung救命呀

Ooops... Don't know why suddenly the IP cam don't work. Seems some problem with the connection... cannot detect the cam even restart the installation again... Trouble shooting now.. Chpyeung, do you have any experience before?

Tell me the details how it does not work for you? What is the error message? Have you read the Dlink DCS-5220 manual? It shows the steps for Nokia 3G phones to use the built-in real player to connect the home cam.

Thanks. But I still got few question to ask......:lol:

1) If I buy a Wi-fi phone, and the vivotek IP Cam, also with the PCCW wifi plan. I want to know e.g. for viewing the cam like 2 minutes, how much will it charge? Because I guess the size for viewing is very large and the plan will charge depends on the size of the video, am I right?

2) for the 3xplorer, same as question 1. And what kind of mobile can support?

I found that if I switch off the power switch at the power extension and switch it on again, the cam may be start properly. I need to disconnect the power cable from the cam and connect it again to start the cam properly. Try if it helps you.

If you subscribe the unlimited PCCW wifi plan, you will not need to worry about data charge!

As for 3xplorer, it does not support video streaming to IP cam, even the cam supports viewing from 3G phone. For phones that support 3xplorer, you may check the models from the following link.

I tried the N82 and N95 in Nokia Shop today and use their WIFI. I entered the demo site just as what you did. The web page shows with the video window in the right side, then I click on the video window and open with the real player, the real player brower comes up but fail to show anything wow... DO I miss something?

I cannot load the video from it either. may be demo account problem.

Today when I was waiting in my car for my wife to buy food outside McDonald, I connect to the free WiFi provided by McDonald and access to the IPcam at home. It works perfectly just as if I use the wifi router at home (but of course the address used is the internet address, not the LAN one)
