I came back to HK 5 years ago, got married and have my little one (she is now 2). Will be moving back with hubby and daughter in Oct. We are going to Melb during easter to perpare for the house too.
seem like everyone used to live in Melb. Ppl who never live there will choose to go sydney instead. Meet many ppl moving to syd but none moving to melb. -.-
Haha, we might pump into each other in the airport or any Melbourne street ^_^ Have you decided which suburb will you live?
I am taking my two girls along during the 2 weeks Easter trip. Let them involving into the whole moving process incl packing and unpacking.
Very busy trip....look for house, buy car, buy basic furniture, apply primary school for my elder daugther and kinder for younger one, medicare, get myself be familiar to drive again...etc. Might go to Great Ocean road during the Easter long weekend too.
Hope two weeks would be enough otherwise I will have to stay behind to arrange all by myself. Also hope that my husband can arrange some initial job interview within the two weeks too but seem unlikely Just keeping myself optimistic or too optimistic
Really a lot for u to do in 2 weeks. I am not bringing my daughter this time. We went back last year with baby when we trying to organise the house. It is really difficult and cant do much. We wish more stuffs can be arrange this time thus better not to bring daughter. We are buliding a house in the north atm. This trip we wish to buy 🚗, amd some furniture, get the front & back yard done, do the driveway, fancing, sucrity door, alarm etc. Thinking should we arrange medicare. Also look for childcare for daughter.
I really a bit worry. hows the life there? we used to have stable family income in Hong Kong, expected the income will less than half in compare of existing. life will be difficult, but better education, food and living environment for my 3 kids
Building a new house.... You must have planned for a while ago ☺️
We just decided to move back in Nov 14 after we been through couple of kindergarten interview 😅 We have decided to give up on HK education for my girls.
I heard childcare is expensive in Aust. Most of your income after tax might have to goto the childcare. Plus u if the kid sick, they will ring u at work and ask u to bring the kid home straight away 😓 Despite that, 3yo childcare is always full. Have to apply really early
Point to consider for selective high school is the entry is based on the entrance exam. So there is no guarantee to get in and competition is high 😓
On the other hand, entry to most good public high school is based on the school zone of your residential address which is more guarantee. That is why the house price within the school zone is high too. 😩
Doremi... same here. we decided to move back after the crazy application process and interview for my 👧 in 2013. We planned for over 1 year now. Really look forward to Oct. I rather to buy a cheaper house so that i can stay home to look after my girl and let her go to catholic school. I think those houses in school zone are not worth, of course of one can affort thats no problem.
I never consider to live within famous school zone areas, rather choose less dense areas and choose less stressed school for my girl.
Love point cook where I stayed last time n will definitely keep living there when I back end of this year.
