as far as I know, you can easily get an open work permit if you were graduated from a University here. Depending on your work type, you can apply for PR (permanent resident) status after you worked for 2 years. It is not necessary to be a professional job, you can even apply if you only worked as a receptionist or administrative assistant, etc.
according to the current requirement, you can apply for citizenship after you stay here for 3 years out of 5 years.
