Re: 妳認為新加坡那間學校最理想?

.

You may want to take a look at this WEB site. It contains a lot of info about the education system in Singapore and schools of Singapore.
http://www.gov.sg/pol_edu.htm

Regarding good schools in Singapore, I think those schools offering Gifted Education Program (GEP) are better than others.

Re: 妳認為新加坡那間學校最理想?

Dear Bristol,

Thanks for the information. I have visited the websites and found out that Singapore also has pre-nursary. Shall I ask how old should the child be if attending the pre-nursary (I have another child 1.5 years old). For my older daughter, I am still waiting the result of singapore scholarship test which should be released at mid of September. If she cannot get it, I will start applying the shools CCM and other mommies suggested directly.

Are you looking for Primary or Secondary Schools?

Primary Schools
My personal favourites are RGS, Singapore Chinese Girls' School (SCGS), Methodist Girls' School (MGS), Convent of Holy Infant Jesus (CHIJ) and St Nicholas'. Mainly because these have good secondary schools to which the primary school kids can go to.

But there are many good neighbourhood schools too eg. Rosyth Primary School, Henry Park Primary School, Tao Nan Primary School, Ai Tong Primary School. And I think for past 2-3 years, the top PSLE students were from such neighbourhood schools.

If you are a Christian, some churches can provide recommendations to the christian schools in Singapore, and hopefully "jump" the queue.

Secondary Schools
The system has been changing quite a bit for secondary schools. There is the express stream students of which they take 4 years of studies and even go directly into the Junior Colleges without GCE O levels if they have good results and recommendations by the teachers.

If the child is good at music/art/sports, he/she can opt to go for schools which offer these specialty subjects. Eg. I knew someone who was admitted to the Sports School on swimming (top 10 in Singapore for age group under 15).

I am still trying to understand the new system myself. Share with you later when I grasp the system......
