I have the exact same problem like you. I have numerous fibriods and also have a miscarriage at Week 9. After meeting over 7-8 Western doctors, doing all the different exams, seeing Chinese doctors in last 2 years. I have the following conclusions:
1) Depends on the size and no. of fibroids in you. If your size is big, many fibroids and in location which is affecting the fetus, you'd better treat it.
2) Find a good doctor. There are some good and really bad ones. The bad ones will affect your decision just as much as the good ones.
3) Find the best treatment for yourself. Open surgery is not necessary for all. Some doctor can use laproscopic surgery if the location of your fibroids is not in the inner layer of the uterus.
4) Age. The closer to 40s, the earlier to treat the fibroids the better. I have use many excuses (including bad advice from bad doctors) to delay my surgery. But, if it's necessary to do it, do it early. So, you can recover earlier too.
4) Chinese medication takes a long time to show effects. If you are younger than 35, worth trying for 6 months or so.
I've my fibroids removed recently. I'm just wondering if I should go ahead of IVF.
I'm turning 40 soon, so probably should proceed IVF not to waste anytime.
